Phoenix AZ?
Im going to Phoenix next week on business. I am going to the convention center and staying at the hotel San Carlos. The Wyndam downtown was booked. I have never been to Phoenix and was wondering if anyone here lives in or has been to Phoenix can give me some insight before I go.
Is it a nice city or is it a toilet? Are there certain areas i should stay away from? Is the convention center or my hotel in a bad area? Is the San Carlos a decent hotel I was told it was very nice. Any restaurants or clubs and bars that can be recomended. Any other info would be great. Also how far is Scottsdale from Pheonix? Thanks in advance. I will be there for 3 days. I will be in meetings from 9 to 5pm. But after 5 im free so I was wondering what the best things to do or nicest places to go are |
I love Phoenix. SG can give you all the up to date sites.

My friend owns The Clarendon in downtown. It has gotten great write-ups like on tripadvisor.com with specials (if available). www.theclarendon.net
Definately not a toilet. Great city and beautiful weather. Scotts is 30-45 min from downtown. Freeway systems are great and easy to navagate. I'll be in town till thursday, then I'm off to Italy. Drop me a pm if you want to get together. Down Town == Thai food = Wild Thaiger, Continental & (wine, cheese bar) = Cheuvront, Mexican = Bario Cafe, Tapas Bar = Lola, Lunch/Dinner American = Coronado Cafe, Breakfast = First Watch. These are guaranteed good eats. If you are looking for something specific, let me know. Have fun in PHX, although there is some construction downtown for our new light rail system. You should have a great time.\ Keith |
SuperGreg lives just outside Phoenix. Shoot him a PM.

Across the street from the San Carlos hotel is boxers men's salon, a great place for a massage, trim, shave ect... You can shoot pool and have a beer while you wait or just hang out. Boxers is a unique place and I think you would enjoy it (assuming it's still open) check it out.

It's a toilet, stay away :nanana:
Just kidding. Hoopie already gave you some great recommendations in the Phoenix area, which is a good thing, because I have not been to the downtown area of Phoenix for like 10+ years LOL. As far as Scottsdale goes, you are probably only 25-30min away. My reco. given the fact that your are no doubt a man of means and sophistication, would be the Mondrian Scottsdale. They have a very popular lounge there where all the beautiful Snottsdale people hang out at. Another pick in Scottsdale would be Ra Sushi. You would want the South Scottsdale location, which is right down the road from the Mondrian. If you like Sushi, go to Ra first then a few blocks away the the Mondrian. Your neck will be sore looking at all the ladies at Ra as well ;). Let me know if you need anything else, Greg |
Thanks for the info guys. I will be shooting SG and hoopie a PM soon. aybe we can meet up in scottsdale or downtown phoenix
