Online poker question. . .

Let's say I won a substantial amount of $ through my online poker escapades. I understand that it is taxable income. However, if I never take the money from the account (I assume these sites are all off shore/non U.S. based), is it still taxable? It's not as if they will be issuing a 1099-G. So if I never touch the funds, do I have to pay taxes on it?

:dunno:

Congrats on the winings, mmm.. I mean in the future...mmm... I believe that all online gaming account have to be off shore accounts now. I was told that the government passed a law against online gambling. I had to open an offshore account (firepay.com) to play here in the states. I can't see why you would have to pay anything until you make the transaction into a US account. I have never heard of anyone paying taxes for online gaming out of the US. In state gambling is another story those bastards take over a 1/3 of my winings.

I'm pretty sure you don't pay taxes until you cash in.
