Can you live in US earning $7.25 an hour??

It is not immediate. It is going to take more than 2 years to get to $7.25

With full employment pretty much (4.5% unemployment is REALLY low) how many people do you really think this impacts? It may be a lot less than you think, it certainly has not caused major chaos on California or Colorado when it has happened, in fact there has been a slight economic bump as these people contribute more back into the economy.

I don't think your average American will be affected by this!

It's the mentality that increasing a tiny salary in some way makes up for the exceedingly high cost of living in the general United States. I'm sure we will see a ton more "programs" to equate the classes followed by an increase in taxes IMO.

I don't select a party as they are both full of garbage. I like to make my decisions based on peoples actions, not association in a political party.

Once again a misuse of the "offical" unemployment figure. The figure the Federal government releases is not how many people are actually without work, but how many people are currently collecting unemployment benefits.

Once your benefits run out and you are still not employed, the government says you are no longer considered part of the work force. And if you never collected benefits, you too are not considered part of the work force any longer even if you are actively looking for work.

That said, the net result of this will be that median wages increase accordingly as the whole pay scale will be raised. That of course will be a delayed effect, but if you look at past minimum wage hikes, the median wage also went up a similar percentage within a year or two following passage.
