The order is IN!!!!!

Today we went to Tulley BMW and placed the finalized order for the new car, and put down the deposit.

The car is as follows:
2007 BMW 335i Coupe
6-speed manual
Montego Blue
Cream Beige Leather
Light Poplar Wood
Sport Package
Premium Package
Comfort Access
Navigation w/ iDrive
Park Distance Control
MSRP: $48,170
With the trade value of the E46, and a discount they gave us for being good customers, we're going to get it for a grand total of only $38,000!
That's $2,600 under the MSRP base price of a 335i coupe.
So some time on or around June 7, 2007.. I will be driving off the lot in my beautiful new car!!!!!

:D :D :D :driver:

Damn nice sounding car. Good luck with this one. I love that color. Definitely post some pics.

Lucky dog! Can't wait to see the pics.

Excellent combo CJ - congrats!

If you have to wait that long you should have done euro delivery and saved even more...... either way...... will be a nice ride..... I drove one just like you ordered a few weeks ago............. incredible power......... just not a fan of turbos yet (long term life worries me)...... My brother had an Audi A6 2.7 twin turbo..... turbo went south at 52K and he had the CPO warranty......... they claimed he ran low grade fuel which caused it to go out and wouldn't cover it.....BS.... they wanted 4K to replace it.

There is a +/-5 month wait on the 335i coupe anyway. Apparently BMW way underestimated the demand for the new coupe, because the E46 coupe sold one unit for every 9 sedans sold. And the demand for the larger engine is slowing things down, too, because they only have so many and they're also putting them in the sedans.. Mine is taking a little longer because my mom wanted it to come just as I finish finals, just as I'm graduating.

I didn't want to do Euro delivery. We've done it before, on our Volvo. But I don't like the idea of waiting 5-6 months for the car to be built, then drive it over there, and wait another two months for it to come back home. I'm a little concerned because I've heard some stories of 335i engines "blowing up" and having overheating issues, but those seem to be early-production issues. Anyway, I'm very excited! I'll post pics when it comes in.

I was originally going to order Barbera Red, the dark red that is available on the 6- and 7- series. That goes into production in March, and my salesman told me he'd have trouble ordering it. I love the Montego anyway. I liked the light beige in the coupe. It's different than that in the sedan. I didn't like the Saddle.. too orange, too much contrast with the rest of the interior, which is black.

I'll try and post some pics later on tonight from E90post of a similar combo.

trueX5er 01-19-2007 08:32 PM

sounds sweet. Let see those pics when it comes!

motordavid 01-19-2007 09:35 PM

Fineazz ride, CJ...
Especially a "ride off to college car".

I walked around campus, (and hitched home
and back), the first year & half, and then I got
a '62 Beetle, and I don't mean John. :D

Congrats CJ...I bet you're looking forward to Summer more than I am.

SANguru 01-19-2007 10:08 PM

congrats. Sorry to break it to you though. I saw the same car at a local dealer lot. If you want it faster, do a dealer locate. They have a pretty large supply. 2nd. Call around. Don't rely on the same dealer. I got $4100 off MSRP on mine (although it was a special circumstance) but many people have been seeing about at least $3000 without haggling. Finally. Why trade it in. You're only getting a little over $9000 for the car? You can do MUCH better than that.

not true. That's horseshit. It's a 9 week wait for order not 5 months for coupes. You're either at a dealer with no allocation or they are lying to you.

:iagree: I had my dealer locate the car I wanted last year so that I did not have to wait.
Nice combo but light beige leather will be tough to maintain clean, especially around drivers seat by door you will notice wear within few months. I like this interior and looks great in person.

This is just what I heard from E90post. My dealer didn't say anything about it though.

I've got mixed feelings about the Saddle. Sometimes it looks too orangey, sometimes it looks great. I'm just going with a safe bet. Gray seemed too boring, although I had that in the X5 and loved it. Black is too dark. I have black now and I don't like it. Ideally I would have loved the Jade Gray, but it's only available in Canada. It's a very light gray with a hint of green, and it's got the same 2-tone with Black interior as a Saddle interior.

regardless Joel, great choice. After 4 days and 500 miles, it's a great commuter. Plenty of power, comfortable and I'm getting 29+ mpg on the freeway even when varying RPMs for break-in. You would love it. I still recommend renegotiating the discount and the trade-in. Find another dealer and play them against each other also. It's a capitalistic society and you should take advantage. BTW, you know you get better deals on cars on the lot vs ordered cars..

Please keep me posted on how things are going with your 335i. It'll be nice to hear what I can expect down the road, no pun intended. Is iDrive really that bad? I've had very limited experience with it, but it doesn't seem so bad. I don't think much is going to change regarding the discount. There are only two dealers in the whole state here.. All the ones in the Boston area have bad reputations, and we already have an established relationship with Tulley so I'm not going to be able to shop around much. Anyways, it's still a much better deal than I expected.

SANguru 01-19-2007 11:59 PM

Idrive is great. the processor on the 335i is much faster than the M5. The secret to Idrive is Voice Recognition. You can get to any screen with VR. You can even enter addresses with VR. Those who hate it just haven't RTFM. BTW, just because you're in a certain place doesn't mean you have to have to pick it up from the dealers around. Hell.. I bought my Ferrari from Portland and my soon to be arriving GT3RS from New Mexico. They ship and it's cheap.

Montego Blue is a great choice!!

This is the exact color and exact same wheels I'm getting.^

And the exact interior combo. Picture it with iDrive and a stick-shift, that's it.

I think I just found my next car, not sure about the interior though. Either way, still a beautiful car.

Only $10,000 for your 330i? ...well it does have 120,000+ miles

I recommend it. The interior is very nice. It's much less plasticky than a 5-series interior. It feels very well put together.

Yeah. They say its only chance of being sold at a wholesale auction. We're thinking about turning in my brother's '99 A4 2.8 with 97,000 miles instead. That thing is a piece of junk. The 330xi has been so reliable, it seems stupid to sell a perfectly good car when we have a garage queen here.

PersonaNonGrata 01-20-2007 03:18 AM

Sounds beautiful CJ. The exterior is very eye catching but I must agree with the others on the interior. It looks nice when new but it will get pretty dirty. To be totally honest, I think it's a little too soft a look for a young man's sports car. There is a little too much luxury in that combo. Just my $0.02.

:iagree: There's a demographic for tan interiors. It's called senior citizen. Tan will defintely show dirt after a very short period of time. Have plenty of leather cleaner on hand.

Right on!
Just came back from visit to my dealer and while there I asked him "how long for a special order 335i?" and his reply is "6 weeks". So your dealer is not being truthful and my guess is he will keep looking for your combo of packages on "locater" as he has all the time till June and if he does not find 6 weeks before then, he will place the order. 5 months sounds too fishy.:tsk: Talk to BMW dealers in CT-NY area and they will tell you 6 weeks.

Go to Edmunds.com and email the dealers thru there for best price and time.

I'm not a huge fan of beige, but I kind of got there through process of elimination. I hate the feeling of driving in a cave.. so the black is out. After driving around for two years with the black interior of the 330, I swore I'd never get black again. I think the Saddle is too orangey. The gray is so.. plain.. So, what's left? Beige.
Why does BMW have to make the color choices so different between the countries? If I lived 4 hours north of here, up in Canada, I could get the gorgeous Jade Gray... That would solve everything...
