My 'Puter Volume Control Glitched...

Help needed by this low tech ol'fool:

This am, my sound volume control, the little speaker icon
down on the right hand tool bar section, does not work.

When I click it, like normal, to raise the sound level, all I
get is a split second hour glass and then, nothing.

I've changed nothing; it worked yesterday and I don't
shut down the 'puter at night.

Everything else is running fine.
Any ideas from the 'Puter Mavens?
Thanks...
mD

to start, i would honestly shutdown and then restart.
if that fails, let us know. it's possible that the sound
card failed. right click on my computer and choose
properties. click on the hardware tab and then click
on device manager. once that window opens, scroll
down to Sound, Video and Game Controllers. are there
any exclamation points?

Install Vista. You will end with other problems and will eventually forget about the sound issues.

Hey Dave, I would restart the computer and I betcha everything will be ok. Your computer probably went into the hibernating mode or sleep mode and the driver did not reload when it woke up. I have the same issue with my computer.

You must have installed the Spinal Tap Add-on that gives you 11 on the volume dial instead of just 10.

I was going to say the same thing.

I also agree with everyone else, do a shutdown/restart.

Thanks Gang...
That was the ticket: restart.

It has just never happend before; I keep this
thing "on", it does go to sleep, but it musta been
a glitch.

Thanks again...great Board, great Members!

Edit, and MiCkEy, here's some tips for Vista, lol!
Hellsbells, I'm sticking with IE6; forget IE7 or Vista.
