BMW Minivan, anyone?

Looks like BMW will build a minivan or "crossover" vehicle soon. Here is the article from Road & Track.

The new 7-passenger design of the X5 coming out in 2007 IS the 'minivan' in my opinion... hehe

Step 1: Place gun in mouth
Step 2: Pull trigger

Why do manufacturers feel the need to devle into areas that their consumers don't care about? Sounds to me like the "amazon.com effect" where they want to be everything to everyone. Just ends up raising the costs of their other vehicles.

And it will be made in US next to X5....

Wagner, I agree w/you. While the photo "looks" intriquing, how many units of a $50K++ van-like crossover vehicle are they really gonna sell? Realizing there have some "gotta have" BMW types all across NorthAm, but Chrysler or Honda will sell more vans in a month than BWM will sell in a year, imo. All the car mfg'ers are guilty of chasing the grocery store approach whereby they have to have Every model/size to prevent "losing" a few units to the pablum producers.

Interesting looking, but Bring Money With you and glitch laden the first MY or two.
Off my soapbox.:D BR,md

PS: the more I look at pic, the more I think it's the best looking BMW front end I've seen in a long time.

I agree with the clean and modern looking front end. But MD, as long as BMW outsells MB's new minivan that's all that matters to them.

Wow, thats really, really ugly. It looks like a cross between a fish and an Audi A2. However, it just might replace the Lexus GX/LX470 as the official car of choice in Bedford, NH.
