Does anyone have a DSLR camera?
 

I'm looking at the Canon 350D, Nikon D70 or possibly the Canon 20D. I've been reading the forums at dpreview and still can't decide. :dunno:

I have a 10D and a 20D, what would you like to know?

I own a Canon 10D. The series that was out right before the 20D.
I have not compared it to other models (nikon, etc.) mainly because I also own a number of Canon EOS 35mm cameras. The fact that the 10D was able to use my 35mm EOS lenses was the reason I bought the 10D. I have also been a long time fan of Canon.
Some people swear by Nikon, some swear by Canon. They both do the same thing, it's just how they accomplish it, where the buttons are, etc.

At the end of the day, no matter how much crap a camera manufacturer loads onto a camera, they are still a very simple device.
A shutter speed
A f-stop
A light meter....

everything else is just gravy... I do suggest however if you have cameras of a particular brand, stay with that brand. Hopefully you can use some of your old lenses and flashes, etc.

Well, that's the crux of the decision really. Digital camera bodies will come and go every 18 months or so, but your lenses you keep through it all. That's why I went with Canon. IMHO, they make the best lenses and have a very broad range of focal lengths from 2.8 and up. My advice to most people who haven't bought into a lens system yet is to go with Canon, start out with an inexpensive middle of the road zoom so that you can figure out what kind of pictures you'll be taking and hence what range of lenses you'll need.

I have heard good things about Nikon D70 and Canon 20D. Both are good cameras.

I went with the D70 since I had some investment in Nikon glass. If you have no investment in lenses, try out the different cameras and see which one feels the best to you. I find with some cameras everything falls naturally to hand and is one of criteria I use in picking.

If you choose to go with a Nikon D70, get the D70s which has a 2" LCD (instead of 1.8" in the D70) but there is no rebate on the D70s, only on the D70. I have the Nikon D2X and I say nothing can come close to it, even the Canon EOS-1DS Mark II.

My sister has the D70. I have the Canon Rebel XT. We both love 'em, and they are both awesome cameras that take excellent photos. You can't go wrong with any of the camera mentioned here. What features do you need, and how much do you want to spend? That will make your decision for you.

you might want to check the specs on those 2 cameras... for an extra $1000 for the nikon you get slower motor drive (8fps but only at 6.8MP, the canon does 8 at 16MP) and it's max ISO is 800 while the canon is 3200 without nikon's "boost" whatever that is :). the nikon is also a 1.5 crop factor and the canon is a 1.3, so you're paying for more and getting less. Don't get me wrong, I'm no nikon basher, the D2x is a great camera, but you're going a little off the deep end saying that a 1DsMkii won't come close to it! :)
