Do you have Vaporware

With hordes of new cell phones making an appearance each day, when will we reach the saturation point and begin to ask what's the point.? Is anyone else tired of hearing and or reading about every electronic gizmo that companies say we need? Good grief gimmie a break. I just got rid of 7 cell phones and while my Treo does a decent job of filling my needs quite frankly my Nextel served my need also. For once could they make a cell phone that works throughout the entire country? Is that really so hard to do?

Not one more feature do I need or do i want. Honestly if half the stuff thats made just worked like it's supposed to that would be satisfaction in and of itself.

But cell phones are only the tip of the technology iceberg of worthless junk we are asked to buy. I'll bet some of all of us have fallen victim of the insidious grasp of VAPORWARE.

:iagree: they have the technolgy to maintain a reliable and stable cellular network throughout the continental united states. it's just a matter of cost efficiency. when you call new york from los angeles, it doesn't cost the phone company any more than calling san diego from los angeles. it's just the fact they can charge you for a service they think you don't fully comprehend. paying for the infrastructure would be their argument, but they have set up those infrastructures decades ago, and they have very well been paid for. i guess you do need the money to maintain them, but shouldn't they maintain them so they get more advanced? and not just maintaining them to be sufficient for the uses in our contemporary times? i know they're restructuring some and upgrading, but they should still be able to satisfy their customers.

oops...sorry if i went off topic...:D

Not as long as they can continue getting people to buy vaporware. :nanana:

I can't believe how hard it is to find a cell phone that is just a cell phone anymore? I don't want the MP3, gaming, dig camera, b.s.!! Just give me a phone to make "PHONE CALLS!" Too many gadgets IMO.

I use Gladware, Tupperware and Rubbermaid, but never used Vaporware.

Verizon works all over the country, and they sell "just phones".

I've been with them for years, no complaints, except for when i go to europe and i have to borrow a GSM phone from work.

Very true on Verizon!
I've been using Verizon for the past 12 years and couldn't be happier, it just works in MOST places, urban or suburban or in the woods.
You can get free basic phones that have long standby time 8-12 days, for FREE. Just make sure you get TRI-MODE:
AMPS
CDMA 900
CDMA 1900
You need AMPS(analog) when you go to rural places that havent upgraded to digital yet.
my 2 rubles :)
