325XI Loaner Car

I had a 325XI loaner for about 4 days, my wife and I both loved it.

The 325XI goes with quiet effortless power, where as the X5 V8 has the power but it makes much more noise.

It got a average mpg of of 26 much better than the 18 to 19 I get with my X.

The downside was that the seats just were not a comfortable and my wife had trouble with the head rest hitting her hair. It also did not have the cargo capacity. I was thing that the wagon would help with that.

In the end both my wife and I agreed it was nice to have our X back, now if it only got 26 mpg!

That is the difference in an I6 over a V8 brother.

The I6 in the 325 was quick and ended up going faster. The V8 is a grunting monster, I think BMW made it that way to appeal to people that like noise. The Lexus V8 is smooth and quiet and I sure BMW could make the V8 smooth and quiet.

I love the new 3, I can't wait to order my 335i!

Quicksilver 02-22-2007 02:14 PM

You know what blue, that comment makes no sense. To say that BMW mfg's cars for people that like NOISE is short sighted. BMW could make the BMW V8 smooth and quiet but then it would be a LEXUS and what would be the point.

:iagree:

The 4.4 can be plenty quiet, its the vehicle you're in as well. In my 545 the engine is very smooth and quiet yet the X5 is louder. There is probably some truth to the exhaust tone being a result of the vehicle.

No disrespect Barry but I believe attacking Blue in almost every thread he post, is short sighted too. Cut the guy some slack!!!
It definitely makes sense to me that BMW could make a smooth and quiet V8 engine that would still bear all the BMW engine soul.
The difference between a BMW and a Lexus has nothing to do with the engine noise level.

if he does, i think it's only because they are too good of friends :D. besides...every opinion is welcomed ;)

Barry

The 325xi is smooth and quiet and its a BMW. Only BMW v8's need to make noise to be a BMW, I think you don't get!

bjo 02-22-2007 05:55 PM

I had a 325i loaner for a few days, which I returned yesterday. Overall, its pretty impressive. There is a little lag in throttle repsonse that is absent in my 01 325i. The new 325i is pretty quiet, easy to throw around, great brakes, and pretty good handling. There isn't as much understeer as I thought there would be. OVerall it is a nice car, but I'm glad to have the X5 back.

trueX5er 02-22-2007 05:55 PM

I only needed a loaner from BMW twice. Once I found a 325i (old) sitting in my driveway, and the other a $51,000 530i. :D
SAAB, when I need a loaner (which is too much), gives me a new STS. :D

Bro, I'm really trying hard but something, you just make it impossible to side with you, seriously!

E61Silver 02-22-2007 06:31 PM

I hear you but needed to stand up for myself.

Quicksilver 02-22-2007 06:58 PM

You have to be joking right. :dunno: Me attacking Blue in almost every thread he post? :dunno: Well if you say so. It's just my opinion my friend. ;)

Cut him some slack? You mean water down my opinion. No thanks. I didn't cuss at him, talk about his mama, or use abusive speech in expressing my thoughts about what he said.

If it makes sense to you that BMW could make a smooth and quiet V8 engine that would still bear all the BMW engine soul than that's your opinion and i respect that. However the fact is they didn't and my opinion about it still stands. ;)

My point is that the 325xi is smooth and quiet, a lot of people like it and its a BMW.

There is no reason to think people would not like a smooth and quiet V8.

I have not driven the the new 4.8 X5 and I wonder how that sounds?

As far as attacks I find that some people still want to give me a hard time because of my position regarding mods. I don't think all mods are good and the idea of removing a resonator to make it nosey with no improvement in performance is an example of a bad modification.

I have to say that I have no issue with Barry and I don't think he has one with me. I think that we are entitled to our opinion and this is a great group of people. I also think a respective exchange of ideas (sometimes differing) is interesting and helpful.

I also found that there is a tiny "dead" spot, power-wise, between 2000-2500 rpm in the new 325i. Did anyone else noticed that?

Quicksilver 02-22-2007 08:53 PM

You tell em Blue :iagree:

Did you see this

All in all, the members of X5world would appreciate if you would stop bullshitting and disputing others' opinions (and/or try to create trouble) at any given oppurtunity while you're online.
