:kewlpics: Congrats!

AzNMpower32 02-24-2007 01:13 PM

You live in the area? I see you have the VOB license plate frame.

The 5's a great compliment to the X5 and it looks great! Props on the 3-pedal choice :) Outta curiosity (or maybe its my deceiving eyes), how did the headlamp switch get punched in? It looks like the knob is pushed in and hard to turn except with preschoolers' fingers. Maybe you can get it fixed if it's broken..........

Wagner 02-24-2007 01:15 PM

Yeah, I live in Mount Airy MD.

No all headlamp switches look like that on the 5ers.

trueX5er 02-24-2007 02:11 PM

How many miles? (Doesn't look to be much)
Looks good :)

motordavid 02-24-2007 02:21 PM

FineAzz new ride, BigR!

Cool Pair in the garage...
I esp like that manually motivated gear shift on your new 545!

RastaGurl 02-24-2007 03:09 PM

Sweet whip!! Congrats!

PersonaNonGrata 02-24-2007 03:28 PM

Looking good! That color and wheel combo is one of the best for the E60's.

Now have fun with iDrive. :nanana: I found some pages of simplified voice commands, copied them at a reduced size, laminated them, and tucked them in the sun visor. Yes, I do have a problem. :tsk:

xnsf 02-24-2007 04:04 PM

congratulations!!! very nice! you're going to have so much fun with a manual bimmer

They're a brand of vacuum that can handle liquid and dirt and are more powerful than a household vacuum like a hoover or an electrolux.

Congrats on the new purchase. Great choice! I've been car shopping for the past 3-4 months (for what, I don't know yet). The 545i 6M is high on my list as a excellent value purchase. The price/performance/luxury ratio is very good.

Did you get a non-Nav, non-I-Drive model?

Those don't exist! All E60s get iDrive.

trueX5er 02-24-2007 05:35 PM

It does look like you didn't get navi, because the screen dosen't fill up the entire display area, or is it like that on all E60s?

BMERGRL 02-24-2007 06:15 PM

Prrrretty!

Quicksilver 02-24-2007 06:28 PM

We have the same problem and i wish i had laminated those instructions as well. But ok. Maybe i'll get around to it.

And oh yes congrats on the new ride.

:iagree:. I learned how to use it without reading an owner's manual. Of course, fully utlilzing the commands will require the manual, but I can do most if not all the basic functions without fuss already...........and we don't even own an iDrive-equipped BMW!

Wagner 02-24-2007 11:30 PM

Yeah it is pretty simple. I guess the fact that it is "new" is difficult for some.

E60's actually come like that from the factory. You can, however, pull out the switch, so it's easier to turn. Just pull it out until it "clicks". If you do'nt like it, give it a good push back and it'll go back in ;)

Hey Vig...
Nah, not yet. I was toying with the idea of getting a 545 for me this summer, and keeping the X around for weekend and trips (or baby-wagon of needed) since it has been so low maintenance and paid for. CEO will still drive the G until next year. However, she has been talking about getting an M35/M45 or a 535/545 to get a little more room and power, so I figured maybe I could move her to my 545 at that time, and then get me something new near the end of next year. ;) Just an idea at this point, nothing more. Her car has been so solid and fun, I couldn't get rid of it yet. Absolutely flawless (and yes, still modless! )

That's a solid plan man! Sounds like you've given this some good thought ;). Those M45's are pretty sweet too..no manual though.

Congrats on your new car, what is VOB anyways? There is a guy in our garage who's Z4 has a VOB plate frame?

Michelle 02-25-2007 02:22 PM

VOB is a BMW Dealer in Rockville, Maryland. The fifth largest BMW dealer in the United States and the number one BMW dealer in the mid-Atlantic region.

(VOB = Value is Our Business)

+1. There's VOB Nissan, Saab too (but who goes to those places?). The BMW dealership has a ridiculously large showroom, but really, they need to work on their service dept (which was their old showroom years ago). It's too narrow, cramped, and finding parking is hopeless. It's compounded by the fact that Enterprise (who provides the rentals) is located on-site and parks many of their cars there too.

And yet, we have to visit this place Tues.........

djbock 02-25-2007 02:39 PM

Congrats on the new ride, that thing is schweet!

Wagner 02-25-2007 03:54 PM

Actually M, VOB stands for Volkswagen of Bethesda. The owner then started dealing in vehicles other then VW and renamed it VOB. Got that directly from the dealer.

Hmm, didn't know what. I always assumed Value is our Business was the reasoning behind "VOB", but then again, advertisements aren't a very reliable source of info. (Honestly, before the ads started running, I didnt even care to know what VOB meant lol)

Whaddya mean dumb? Rt 355 has all the stores you could possibly want. It is a strip mall with tons of stores for miles and miles. The traffic can get annoying on weekends though.

Wagner 02-25-2007 07:28 PM

I'm just use to going into dealership that owns a "lot" like the ones you see in B-more, Columbia or Annapolis. The dealership itself is very cool inside...got to love the glass elevator that takes you to the finance department

LOL, it really is a huge place. They have a massive 3-level garage behind the sales building that extends to their service building that's TWO stores down (a retail and a McDonalds), so it's a really long garage.

I've been a bit ashamed to set foot lately though, because our sales rep knew that we had intended to do an ED on a 328i this year, which is now not going to happen :saad:. I've done a fair share of joyrides, since I guess she knew we were going to eventually buy another BMW. Gosh, now that we aren't doing ED, I'd hate to answer her when she asks "when your folks ready to order that 328i?"

Then again, if you came by on Tuesdays when she's off, I'll be happy to give you a tour of the place. All the reps are too busy to care where I go inside the dealership anyway. (I know where the keys are ;))

Awesome ride, my dad just bought an '04 545 w/ man. trans. he loves it...although he's been bugging me to swap with him lately so that he can rip through the SMG paddles in my X. I still haven't driven his 5 yet, I'm waiting for a nice dry day to torture it through some twisties.
