Auto evaluation

I received a questionaire/invitation in the mail today from a market research company called Synovate to participate in an automotive evaluation by an unnamed major car manufacturer. I filled it out, we'll see what happens. Anyone ever do this?

I did a couple in CA. They will pay you $100 -$200 probably. Do it, they are fun. You are basically part of a focus group. If they don't offer you enough, ask for more, they are flexible.

Do you get to drive the cars?

trueX5er 02-24-2007 01:48 PM

I've done "e-rewards" online where I get free AA miles! Sometimes I get an auto related one. I have about $80 of reward money built up after about a year

Depends, it could just be a prototype that they want to get your opinion on. Ask them. Sometimes you do, yes.

I googled 'em - Looks like an interesting company - let us know how it goes.

I never get picked for stuff like that - I have never even been called for jury duty!:bawling:

I got the call

I am scheduled to do this auto evaluation Sunday April 22rd at the Meadowlands Expo Center. Should be cool. The woman I spoke to is going to try to get me into a second group because I was so enthusiastic

I don't think there are any test drives though. These are cars that won't be out for several years. I'm a target demographic - I think that's a riot.

$200 a day is like minimum wage dude.. I rather have my weekend to do other things.. my consulting rate is like $100 an hour... right Gresch?? :)

Who said it took all day?? If it's the same type of thing. It took about 2 hours the last time i did one of these. Good return in my view. The wife went shopping and we had a nice dinner.

Quicksilver 04-07-2007 06:25 PM

What did you see/drive?

Quicksilver 04-07-2007 07:01 PM

We were asked to evaluate different vehicles that were not on the market. Some prototypes with no names and some vehicles that were on the market as well. No driving at all. They were interested in interiors ie seating, dash, visibilty, outside body design, trunk space (no engine visual) and comparisons. Clipboards and forms for each model asking all the same kinds of questions for each car.

Well, Sunday is the day. When I spoke to them to confirm they said that BMW was infact the manufacturer sponsoring the event. There WILL be real live cars there. :excited: Maybe I'll get an inside scoop on the X6. Although Wagner did a good job talking me into the 650....

Give me POWER and AWD! Stay tuned for more.

I've done a couple of those marketing focus groups, and I enjoyed them all. You get paid for about 2 hours of time, and you get to give your opinions on current and future styling, interior layouts, etc. The last one I did compared SUVs from almost all the major manufacturers. Pretty cool. Some of the new stuff looks pretty good.

trueX5er 04-20-2007 11:27 PM

Are you just chosen randomly? Or can you sign up somewhere?

(Are you allowed to say what SUVs were there?) :D

I think they choose people from a list of owners of target brands/models they are testing. I've been picked for owning a 7 series, X series, and even for my Ford F series and my ATVs. They make you sign a confidentiality agreement and no picuture taking is allowed (they made me lock up my cell phone in a locker even). These tests may or may not involve test drives. It depends. Usually it involves opinion on styling and features you like/dislike. I don't know how you can sign up, but once you get on the list, they will likely call you for another test later.
