Windows Mobile 6 to support Hi-Res!

http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1895,2092473,00.asp

"Finally, Windows Mobile 6 cures the hideous affliction that has scarred the Palm Treo 700w: it now supports more screen resolutions including 320x320 and 800x480. Hopefully, we will never have to see a 240x240 screen device again."

"Windows Mobile 6 will start appearing on devices soon; Samsung showed their SCH-i760 at CES. Microsoft will also make upgrades available for many Windows Mobile 5 devices, though it's up to individual device manufacturers and carriers to decide whether they'll offer those upgrades to consumers."

Mark one up for Microsoft. The biggest advantage of the Palm/Garnet OS, it's screen resolution, has been eliminated. I've held out on upgrading my Treo 650 to a Treo 700wx because of the low-res screen, or to a 700p because of little or no OS development.

Now comes the wait for a new Treo 700wx upgrade with WM6 and a 320x320 screen or a Sprint version of the Samsung SCH-i760 which is rumored to be a WM 6 phone.

I wouldn't hold my breath for an upgrade to the Treo 700wx unless you mean purchasing a new Treo model that has WM6 pre-loaded.

On a personal note, I recently bought a Sprint Moto Q and have been happy with it's capabilities including flawless bluetooth execution on my X3. I could never get my PPC 6700 to work with bluetooth plus it was a brick anyways.

I also doubt that 700wx will be getting the WM6 upgrade, especially now that the 750 is out (GSM only for now, but I think CDMA version should be getting released soon). The MotoQ is more likely to get the upgrade going forward (newly produced models) being a new Smartphone in Sprint's line-up, but again, as a current owner of the Q I'm not holding my breath to see the upgrade made available to existing devices that have already been sold. Not that I care too much about the WM6, and I'm happy with my Q just the way it is. :)

My 700W is slow and crashes do to lack of memory. Unless they have increase the memory don't get it!

Actually there is a new Treo phone in the works which would be an upgrade of the 680/750 model (codenamed Sherlock). The Treo 700wx with a firmware upgrade to WM6 would not be sufficient for my purposes, but it would help out Windows Vista and Office '07 users currently experiencing compatibility issues with WM5. My main requirement in an WM phone is the higher screen since I'm an old guy and I need reading glasses. I'm not holding my breath for the new Treo. I'm on Sprint; Sprint is always last to get new phones. I'm thinking the next set of Treo's will show up in Q4.

The PPC6800 is due out in May. Supposed to be slimmer, lighter and has a qwerty keyboard.

Last year's Treo 700wx has nearly double the user accessible memory of the 700w. You have an old phone, Blue.

Try using Oxios Hibernate which is a memory management program for WM. See Treocentral.com for writeups regarding this software. There are alot of 700w owners using it. And here's the magic word: it's FREE!

Yes it was on of the first 700W, I will try Oxios Hibernate thanks for your help.

Did any of you look at the new iMate "Ultimate" line of Windows Mobile phones? Pretty impressive...
