BavarianFest East is going to be held in CT!

Great news! Bimmerfest is coming to Connecticut!

They also decided to change the name to Bavarianfest.

Read up on all the details here, http://www.bavarianfest.com/home.html.

It's going to be held at Hammonasset State Park, CT, on Saturday August 6, 2005.

Hope to see fellow East Coast X5 owners there.

Verbalkint 06-23-2005 12:35 AM

Hey, thanks for that.

Chris F., Rangerfan, LeMansX5...and everyone else in the TriState Area (including twm67, gresch, and all members of the NYC/NJ contingent), from New England and beyond (that includes you, jmh, CJ, gojira-san, Dave@CustomAngelEyes, labatt), and anyone and everyone from far and wide (this means you, UncleMotor, MiCkEy, Trex, JVZ104, JMDXX5)...from all across this great nation (listen up, WestCoast and AZ folks)...and everyone else that I may have inadvertently or unintentionally omitted (this means everybody else, from the Detroit area to Dallas and other cities in the Great State of Texas), check it out! Time to represent. Be there or be square.

I recently attended my first "EastMeet," and it was a blast. Meeting people and checking out their rides/mods in person is a lot of fun, and a great time.

Mark your calendars, gents.

Thunder22 06-23-2005 12:52 AM

can i drive my vette there? :bustingup

Chris F. 06-23-2005 07:45 AM

I agree, this is great news!!!

LeMansX5 06-23-2005 08:06 AM

Good news! I was planning on a mini-meet at one of the other CT state parks in Shelton in July after I heard from V/K last week, but this is good. If you guys still want to do a separate one let me know. DropTop, Chefwong, and TripleX5 are also in the area.Hammonasset State Park

hmmmm.... I may just have to attend this one... I'll have to break up the drive, though. It is a 12 hour drive for me. This is very tempting, though. :)

By the way, V/K, was I "inadvertently" or "unintentionally" omitted? :D

DC is about halfway, right? We could convoy from here, Juan. I'm not gonna miss this one, I have plenty of vacation days to use up.

Having never attended, can someone give me the $0.25 review of what I'll be missing if i don't go? :)

Now, that I think about it, I suppose rolling in to a Large gathering of BMWs of all models, shapes & stuff, in a
Vette is sorta like taking a hooker to the prom, :D . It would make more "sense" if I rolled into to an informal get together in a non-BeaMer car, I suppose.

I'm sorting out the calender, but I think I'm gonna make This one! And, would be glad to convoy w/any&all as I'm coming from far western NC and could hook up in VA/DC/MD, whatever. BR,md

G: No clue, here...But, If I go, it's to see & meet all the Regs&Faves on this board, plus a lil'gawking at wretched excess as exemplified by all the noveau-riche BMW owners, etc. :D
My 2Cts.

with the exception of meeting the regulars from here, i can do the rest of those activities by hanging out in my home town on LI... i'm going to need some more convincing ;)

Absolutely! Maybe MD and I can hook up somewhere in southwestern VA, and we can then drive up to DC, and spend the night there. The next day, we can all convoy up to CT. I need to discuss this with the CEO... I doubt she'd want to make this long drive, but I'd love to do it regardless.

Same here  Also wondering about the registration versus spectator tix. I'll have the Brembo rotors, HID fogs, 1/2" lowered & tinted X5 with hopefully the oval exhaust tips done by the time this rolls around, but that ain't enough for people to wanna take a hard look at my X. The Registration package seems like such a better deal though. :dunno:

LM: That looks like a EuroShot...I don't see that very often around here,.

Gresch: you shouldn't need a sales pitch to want to attend, If it fits you schedule, Or you wanna come.
Up to you.
My point is that the Main reason I would make the trip is
an excuse to see/meet the Regs&Faves that frequent this board.
I love cars, but after an hour of two of looking at Any
brand(s), I'm sorta full. But, the people, and in some ways the Ride, are the impetus for my considering coming.

yeah, that is a Euro shot. For me its to see Regs&Faves and I can't get enough of cars. And also to spend some time outside while the weather is good before we get into another long winter.

A little of both, and throw in a dash of negligence on my part. :)

Hope you're able to join us.

Well, I was not able to go to Trex's mini east meet 'cause I was still recovering from surgery (still am, actually), but I fully plan on attending this one. I may start the drive on Friday, stop by DC and maybe hang out with JVZ, and head up north early Saturday morning.

Juan

Verbalkint 06-23-2005 09:04 PM

And PeteG...drive on down with the northern New England contingent!

rangerfan 06-24-2005 02:14 PM

DAMN, I can't make it. I am going to be in Japan attending a wedding. @#$#@^#

motordavid 06-25-2005 09:44 AM

I've got that date penciled in on the ol'Shed U Ool, too...though after the 2 hrs plus of jes' trying to "get around the Balt area" yesterday on the run up to south Jersey, I may helicopter in, lol!

With my ichiban Daughter here in Cherry Hill, I may use her house as a way point, but if I do ""go", I could still hook w/Juan et al, but keep on going a tad further north, to S.Jersey.
Actually, I could drive the damn entire way...if I was Only a lil'bit younger, lol!
;)

Question, of the rhetorical variety: maybe it's jes'em but, Does Anyone Know How to Drive on the Freaking Interstates anymore???!

2nd Question: in the not quite 4 years we've been out of the "Northeast", has the general population and the traffic, like multiplied 10 fold, in our short absence?! :wtf:
BR,md

Juanted 06-25-2005 06:21 PM

So... for those who have gone to these events before: Is this something to which you take your significant other? Or, is this a "guy's night out" sort of thing?

My wife would like to go but:

1. She never drives, so I get no help there. She sleeps 75% of time we're on the road.

2. She has NO interest in cars - AT ALL. The ONLY reason she wants to go is because of the beach in Hammonasset State park. She loves the beach and the water... she has zero interest in cars, mods, BMWs, or anything of the sort.

3. I think it'd be fun to hang out with the guys, and maybe go out for a few beers. :D

For those of you who are planning to attend, are you taking your CEO, or going by yourself?

Juan

Verbalkint 06-25-2005 06:37 PM

Good question.

I would imagine that wives, GF's, SO's, CEO's, etc., are welcome to attend. If someone shows up with both his wife and his GF, I'm guessing that might be problematic. :) I'm bringing my 13-year-old son.

Maybe some of the folks that have attended one of the WestFests, EastMeets, or ChiFest will chime in.

The ChiFest was attended by both the guys and their significant others. It was a great time.

Juan

My CEO "might" be along for the ride; dunno...
She has become less entralled w/long car rides over the years.
She likes cars, loves me :D , likes to meet people, but...

As we get closer and the attendance becomes more apparent, eg spouses/GFs et al, that might have some influence on her decision. OTOH, she may use a Pasadena as a subtle way to get a few days "off" from me, too.
BR,md

SuaveX5 06-25-2005 10:49 PM

count me in

Looks like a good day to take the kids to see the car and the girls   maybe the wife will not want to go since she is not into cars

later i`ll post some pics of the progress the shop has made on my 2002 X5,

it is getting an 05 face lift and a aero kit put on it, i`m hoping it is done by friday if the parts don`t get delay any more. ahaha and those nice oval muffler tip from ractive...

jmh 06-25-2005 11:02 PM

Hi,

just returned from Australia and found this thread :)
I have registered for Bavarianfest and marked my calendar.
Would be great to meet up with folks and put names to faces.
Also if there're folks from NH, MA, CT, RI maybe we can get a
caravan organized and and a "X5" area at the show ;)
