Hooked up apple TV this week - works excellent! Streams all my music and vids (500GB worth) to the downstairs 46" HD TV without a problem. Installation time: less than 5 minutes. Works so good I bought another one for upstairs. :popcorn:

nice. hows the quality of the video and music ? any lag in streaming?

Music quality - as good as you import. Video quality - mp4 files (you can import higher quality vids using various software). The quality depends on your source. As far as lag... It takes about 5 seconds to start a vid, then there is no lagging after that. There is no lag with music playing; songs start playing right away. Photos look great and there is a good slide show and screen saver program.

Can you control the music through the tv?

I believe that's done with Apple TV. It has it's own remote.

can you stream the other way? transfer cable tv from a coaxial cable on your TV to your mac?

I understand music is streamed real time. Video is copied over in advance onto the harddrive. It can sync with up to 5 computers.

It can not operate as a PVR, yet.

It does stream video in "close to real time", using the hard drive as a buffer. You dont have to copy them there first before viewing - and the files are not saved. Works sort of like a DVR or Tivo.
