Don't know what they were thinking. A benevolent government in this day and age that knows best what to do with property---gimme a frickin' break! This is an interesting case in that it throws the Conservative and Liberal sides onto their heads. To me, at least, this decision is backwards--I'd have expected the votes to go pretty much exactly the opposite of how they did.

It's not the Justices that give into the lobbyists, it is ithe frickin' local gov'ts that give into the rich developers. It scares me to think about what this could lead to in the future. Oy vey!

It is a scary thought indeed. Realistically, I think that most governments will be pretty decent about it in most cases but I can't begin to imagine how a small government like a small city with a mayor who is also the dog catcher, the vice mayor is the mayor's brother-in-law and the chief of police is the mayor's son would abuse the power of emminent domain. From what I have seen of small city goverments, it will be abused regularly.

I agree... when I saw that headline in CNN, I thought I had mis-read it, and looked at it again. What are these people thinking?!?! Makes NO sense... we're giving the government a blank check to do as they wish with it... Unfreakingbelievable.
