When I've had eye surgery, they always ask me which eye before knocking me out. This is the final of many checks including a black pen mark on my forehead. I guess they didn't ask him which nut?

That sucks! Although I suppose no one's infallible. There have been several similar instances in recent years which have prompted the majority of hospitals to institute various checks to ensure that such errors are few and far between, including, but not limited to, marks with magic marker on the patient's skin hours, and even days prior to surgery. I guess that particular VA was not one of those hospitals.
