BBC to consider US version of Top Gear

The U.K.'s BBC is considering producing a version of its popular "Top Gear" program for the United States, according to the Sun newspaper. The show will star the same cast as the British version — Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May.

The report was not clear as to whether some of the same segments would be used in both editions of the show, but the U.S. version is expected to have an increased focus on American vehicles.

"BBC Worldwide has had exploratory conversations with the US networks to bring a local version of Top Gear to the US, but there is not yet a deal on the table," a BBC spokeswoman said.

U.S. stars will reportedly race against The Stig on Top Gear's track, the newspaper added.

Now that would be sweet.

Yeah, way sweet.
As long as they don't 'dumb it down' as they are wont to do.
They should just broadcast the same version they have in britian. We like to see what everyone else gets to drive.

nice idea...but why not just syndicate the current ones to be on one of our network stations?

no sure how fun it will be to see a veyron racing an airplane limited to 65 mph...

The show will not be the same with different people. Those guys are what makes the show so unique and enjoyable.

You're right. Good thing they're going to keep them. ;)

I hope it happens! It's a good show.

Wow, if it did come here, that would be really cool...

us version is gonna screw it up with street racing/nopi/drifting spin on it... just like all the other sportscar shows on speed right now...

Half the entertainment is in bashing America and it's horrible cars..doubt that'll fly on this new show. I highly doubt we're going to see the same kind of beautiful tests across Europe either. And most importantly, I foresee the quality of cars reviewed going down the drain. Dunno about the rest of you, but I'm prefectly satisfied with current setup.
