The media is at it again (Dragging the tanker truck drive thru the mud)

If you've been following the drama about the freeway collapse in the bay area. The story has turned into a media circus again. Locally many are upset with the media for exposing this guys criminal past (11 years ago) which appears to have nothing to do with the accident.

Some of the comments asked the question: Does the press have the right to dredge up the (criminal) past of the truck driver, particularly considering the lack of proof that he's even looked at drugs in the last 11 years. Why are we (society) so quick to villify? Why must there always be blame placed right away, with no thought put into it at all?

If we want to rehab felons and people with drug problems, how can we excoriate this man?

Such is the bipolar nature of crime and punishment in America.

We claim that rehab is the goal, and then hold the past crime against the criminal for the rest of their life.

Media will do anything to sell and with the bulk % of the American viewer being an American Idol, reality show watching pile of lifeless slop.....this will sell.

If he comes up clean on his post accident drug test you'll never hear about it though.

OT: since everyone says about the 2nd amendment to the constitution "hey, Jefferson didn't have AK47's he had muskets" how come nobody ever says about the 1st amendment "Jefferson had ink and paper, not the Internet, YouTube and WiFi"

He did come up clean. That's why folks around here are slapping the media for leaking this guy's past trangressions. Especially in view of his efforts to stay clean. Fact is they don't even know what caused the accident. They think speed ( Notice i said think) No proof yet.

well we go around and around and around and eventually it ends...would you prefer the term the great NASCAR race of life? That is just a little too redneck for me

He had a hx of Heroin abuse and apparently there is a law in Ca that he should not not been given a commercial license in the first place. The media should be on who gave him the license...
