What's your point. That he got a permit or that his father bought his 10 month old a shotgun for a gift??

rebound 05-16-2007 08:42 PM

Actually, it was the kid's grandfather that bought it as a gift, but...

motordavid 05-16-2007 08:53 PM

Eric,
Besides the 2nd Amendment, what other parts of the Constitution of the United States, do you not like?

rebound 05-16-2007 08:59 PM

Not to put words in his mouth, but I'm assuming he's commenting on the ability of the father to get a permit for a toddler.

I would have to agree that the gubment did punt that one fully into the stands...

That, and I'm sure he'd prefer a much more socialist Constitution than the one we've got!

I just assumed that there was/would be a law that required a person to be 18 or 21 to own a gun. You have to be 'of age' to smoke, buy porn, buy beer, vote, join the military etc, but not for a gun permit. That seems odd. With no age restriction, on what grounds should they not give the infant a permit? Things that make you go hmmmm.

Just because you have a permit in IL doens't mean you "can" own a gun. You must have the permit "before" they do the background checks.

Yes, that is indeed what I mean. I am not against the 2nd Amendment. Obviously there should be some sort of limitations, and age should be one of them.

As for "a much more socialist constitution", I don't believe economics are part of the constitution at all. We do not have a "capitalist" constitution either. There is simply no mention of economics. So no that is not what I want.

As for economics, I simply want to live in a country that is not fascist and where those with money have no more political power than those without. That would be my main preference, and I'm guessing the majority of Americans, if asked, would have that same preference.

I say, the people who pay the most amount of taxes should have the biggest say in how those taxes are spent.
I believe in the American Dream, not the equal distribution of wealth and power. This ain't fantasy land Eric..
