X5 vs 4Runner
Alright, I know Ryan has told some of you about the loaner I had the last time I took his car in and I haven't had very much time to give you my side! The 4runner was good to me and I really liked some of the features that this one had. Also, every member of my family owns at least one Toyota if not one they have 2 or 3.
Here is the rundown of the "debate". Our X5 has almost 60k miles on it and since no vehicle lasts forever, Wagner says we will be replacing it in about 2 years. I love the X5 and would love to have another one! But since they are running about 70k now, I have to keep my options open. This is where you come in!!! The vehicles I am starting to look into are: Toyota 4Runner Chevy Tahoe Ford Explorer Honda Pilot Nissan Pathfinder or Armada I would also like to look at the Honda Odyssey, but for some reason Wagner refuses to look at one. Wagner and I plan on having 1 more kid in the next 2 years as well, so we need a vehicle that can fit a family of four and a dog! Safety ratings are a big selling point for Wags & I as well. Out of the SUV's/Minivans that you all have owned outside of BMW, which ones do you like and why? Anything that you recommend to stay away from?? Looking forward to your input!!! ;) |
Hey Bekah,
My dad recently bought a Honda Pilot and had it shipped to Maui where he and my mom now live. They swear by the Pilot and say it's one of the best vehicles they have ever owned. (He also has a X5 4.4i) I never drove the Pilot but know that you get a lot for your money on that vehicle. B |
For a family the Honda Odyssey is really worth a look.
It drives OK and gets better mpg. |
If only they made an AWD Odyssey. Of all mini-vans, the Odyssey looks the best.

Toyota Sienna has four wheel drive, my sister loves it; after she got rid of the run flats.

4Runner: lot's of experience with them, just OK. Not that safe if you dont get curtain airbags.
Tahoe: May as well get an Expedition, it is cheaper and has more features. Explorer: Also some experience, Ford has broken the stigma, it is now one of the safest vehicles in it's class. Aged, but worth a look. Pilot: Big, not too nimble. If you don't need 8 seats, pass it. Pathfinder/Armada: both just updated, pretty decent, although no experience with them you should also check out Jeep Grand Cherokee, or maybe a smaller 'ute like an Escape or Outlander. |
I have a pilot, its pretty good and my kids love it because they have their space. it fits 8 passenger comfortable its AWD w/ DVD, NAVI, leather seats, etc etc.

i love my X5 and can't imagine driving anything else...for now.
however, we also have a tahoe and i love it! it's much bigger than the X & there's no comparison for obvious reasons, but i still like it. |
Had a tahoe, it got stolen. One of the top ten stolen cars in the country b/c they put it in with suburban and full size trucks.
the v6 4runner has more horsepower than the v8 4runner. I like them with the JBL and the nav. |
X3/ML/Pepper?
The cars you list aren't really in the same class as the X5 in my opinion... Or a LR3/LR2? |
