A thought about the lights
 

I was thinking about why my high beams aren't working. The lights that Dave put on my car are bi-xenon. I had Concord Motorsport fiddle with the ECU so the xenons would work. Now the low beams only work. The high beams won't work if you put the stalk in the high beam position, but they'll work if you hold the stalk as if you were flashing someone. Could they have programmed it for bi-xenon lights mistakenly? It would explain why the halogen high beams dont work. Is there a way you can program bi-xenon lights for normal xenon operation?

CJ, on bi-xenons, the low beam is the hi beam by way of a shutter. The inside lamp, normally the high beam is only used for day time running lights and flash to pass.

That's probably a good point CJ. The bi-xenons certainly make things more interesting. Unfortunately I'm not sure what you can do about it.

Don't take this the wrong way but why don't you just pick up the phone and talk to Dave about this? He's a nice guy and will give you hand. Maybe he'll even know what to do.

Were Bi-Xenons available for your exact model year?

I think bi xenons started in 02 model year (face lift) 9/01>

Now you don't make sense. You bought these lights and now you can't use the bi-xenons? No brights?

Apparently.. I bought them under the impression that they were the same lights, and that I could just have the halogens as my brights....

Did Dave tell you that, or did you assume that? Didn't Dave warn you that you would not have brights any longer?

I just assumed that they'd work. He didnt warn me.

Damn CJ, that's an expensive assumption dude. Life is gonna suck without bright lights on those dark tree lined roads :clueless: J/k with the icon, I always wanted to use that one :D

Well if I can't get the brights to work, there's no way I'm keeping them on the car... I wish he warned me, but I guess I shouldn't have assumed. Oh well. :(

I don't think it's bad luck CJ. IMO, you just aren't doing your homework and research prior to doing your mods. Maybe if the $$ came out of your own pocket, you would be more diligent :dunno: . i.e. You knew King had major issues with Umnitza, yet you ordered from them anyway. In this case you made a tragic assumption. This whole issue boggles me. It's not that big of a project. Next time, do your research. Ask relevant questions of people that have installed the mod you are interested in, heed their advice and move forward with a relatively risk free install. There is a HUGE group of E46 owners both at RF and at BF. I wonder what advice they would have given you had you asked them about installing Xenons on your 330xi :dunno: . Life is full of lessons to be learned. Some you learn the hard way, and some you learn the easy way.

Dave seems like a really great guy. Call him and calmly discuss your situation and ask for recommended solutions.
