Trying to sue the US firm over a shipwreck that Spain in NO WAY recovered yet 'claims' was in their waters. Tough sh_t...buy some Scuba gear :)

If it is in their waters, then it is their property. It doesn't matter who recovered it. The company that recovered it should have made a deal with the government of Spain to share the treasure. If Spain can prove it was in their waters, that compay may find themselves without any of the treasure.

Just think about it....if I came onto your property and dug up a treasure that you didn't know was there, do you think I should be able to keep it all?

The company could be full of crap. The reason why Spain suspects it was in Spanish waters is because this company put in a request last year to be in Spanish waters, but they gave their reason for wanting to be there as something entirely different than treasure hunting. The request was indeed approved at the time.

I'm sure had 500M not been found, Spain would not be complaining about their actions. :tsk:

Eric, I have a funny feeling that if Venezuelan companies were searching for treasure off the coast of Florida under "suspicious" request, and a similar story played out...you would be behind Venezuela in that case.

Or if Venezuelan oil companies wanted to drill in ANWAR, or if a French tourist expected to receive routine medical care for free while vacationing in the U.S., or...

...you get the idea.

I'm always consistant in my positions regardless of the countries involved. It is you guys who always promote this double standard where it is fine for the US to do certain things, but if other countries do it then it is not acceptable.
