Great spread on SBT... :)

Since S Bull Terriers get such bad press, it's nice to see something that puts a new light on it. As an SBT owner, this is great. |
Stupid question... what's the difference between the SBT, BT, pit bull, and AST? That was a great video and they hit the nail on the head how the story never tells why or how a person was attacked or how the dog was raised. Some real cute pups in the video too.

All variations of the Bull breed, some originate from Europe and the APBT (American Pit Bull Terrier) is generally the one most people recognize. Thous all Bulls have a block like head and muscular stature, the APBT is most commonly noticed and most other Bulls are mistaken for the APBT. In fact, the American Bull Dog is most commonly mistaken for an APBT, and the ABD is considerably larger (weighing in the 100+ lb range where as most BT's are under 85lbs.) The "Target Dog" is a Bull Terrier and the "Our Gang" dog was a APBT.
There is a ton of information out there on these wonderful dogs. I'm going to post some pics soon of Sasha (SBT) with Dawkin. |
Sorry Wagner, but you opened up this can of worms..
It does not matter WHY or HOW "some" of those dogs killed, disfigured, etc. children, adults and other innocents. -- Those headlines in the articles say it all: "Another Staffy Attacks" "Stafforshire Bites Girl" - Not "woman" but "girl".. My favorite: "Childs FACE torn apart by SBT" "SBT Attacks in New Zealand" I can set nice music to pictures of the holocaust and show pictures of German soldiers with their arms around Jews, that doesn't mean the Germans didn't kill nobody. And I want to point out. And I am going to say this LOUD AND CLEAR... When we discussed this topic months ago, I showed you countless articles that specifically said things to the effect of : It's a family pet with no history of violence...: CALEDONIA - A 9-year-old is attacked by a pit bull while playing at a friend's house. The owner of the dog insists it's not vicious and calls it an accident. The young victim, Tommy Hess has a gash in his head, and bite marks on his arm and hand from the pit bull. Over and over I hear, "It is a family pet with no history of violence.." The evidence is there guys, you just have to read it. B |
We've had this discussion before. I'm not going to rehash it, you can do a search if you want my response.
On the side, we haven't started outlawing humans (point is, individuals are violent, not breeds): http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/loc...ocal-headlines City police reported no suspects today in a shooting last night that left four people wounded when authorities said a gunman opened fire on a crowd of people on an East Baltimore street. http://findarticles.com/p/articles/m...8/ai_n15853584 Baltimore City Circuit Court: Testimony starts in shooting of two http://wjz.com/local/local_story_023085750.html Mayor O'Malley Reacts To Alarming City Murder Rate (24 people shot in 27 days) http://www.bosconet.org/pjohnson/blo...ng-murder-ink/ Murder map of Baltimore http://www.examiner.com/a-543041~Mur...ets_safe_.html Murder City: Are Baltimore's streets safe? WASHINGTON - Baltimore City and Prince George's County accounted for over 75 percent of all Maryland murders in the past two decades, despite making up less than a third of the population, a Capital News Service analysis shows. In total, 8,787 of the 11,375 murders from 1985-2006 in Maryland took place in one of the two areas, according Maryland State Police uniform crime reports. |
You already did rehash it. That disguisting piece of propoganda you posted says it all, you just have to read between the lines:
"Another Staffy Attacks" "Stafforshire Bites Girl" - Not "woman" but "girl".. My favorite: "Childs FACE torn apart by SBT" "SBT Attacks in New Zealand" "Childs FACE torn apart by SBT" "Childs FACE torn apart by SBT" "Childs FACE torn apart by SBT" "Childs FACE torn apart by SBT" "Childs FACE torn apart by SBT" But I understand your point, obviously it was the child's fault.. B |
My point is, it isn't the breeds. Your last sentence, I'm not sure where you were going.

Attacked by a pit bull, not a SBT. Still, there is always a reason for an attack, be it violent history or being provoked. The article says the child was playing... was the child being loud, running around, etc... there has to be more to why a dog attacked.
Guinness, our mini schnauzer isn't violent, but I know if provoked by a person or child, his hackles will go up and there's a huge chance he's gonna bite. And Jameson, our English Bullie... he's the sweetest guy you'll ever meet. Will lick you to death before anything else. Trained very well, I think, by me. Would never have any reason to go after someone... provoke him, invade his territory and I'm sure it will be a different story. Why do I know those things? Bottom line, a dog is an animal that can be trained and be a very loving companion. However all dogs can be territorial and/or protective and have potential to attack. Media is focused on this breed, along with Rotties and dobermans (sp?).. and people are so uneducated that I get into numerous arguments that an english bulldog is not a pitbull or bull terrior. It's just my opinion, but I don't think that a well trained dog will attack for no reason. I've seen nice lovable dogs, and I've seen dogs that live up to the stereotype. Educate yourself, educate your children, catch the animal abusers, animal inbreeders, etc and I think you'd hear less about these "attacks". And with the whole holocaust thing... come on now... that is one serious stretch for a comparison. Can I make one too and say since legislation is trying to ban the breeding of particular dogs because they are violent, can we also ban the breeding of a particular human race or particular group of people in certain areas because they are violent? |
Quote:
We do not put the same value on human attacks that we do on dog attacks because, it is thought, that we have a higher brain. We have Id and Ego. Animalistic behavior vs. Laws and rules of society. Animals do not have the same brain function that we do. That act out of instinct, not thought. B |
I don't think anyone said it was the child's fault... just what else is there that caused the attack. A dog simply doesn't attack for no reason at all.
Like Wagner said, it's not the breed. It is more than just the breed of animal. Give me blondboi's chiuaua or Michelle's little white puff ball and I'd bet they can be turned into very viscious animals. |
