#4 is me...and no this does not mean I am rich...but I do love this town.

Congrats, MicKey!!

I think I live in one of the best places in America, and I'm just glad that my town is still a secret. We live in a small (about 5,500 people), lake-front town that is only 10 minutes from Charlotte, NC -- the 26th largest city in America. We have NO crime; the school district is nationally recognized as one of the best in the country; cost of living is very reasonable; housing is affordable (5-bedroom, 3,000 sq. ft. homes for 250K); winters are mild; tennis courts, a swim and beach club, and 27 holes with a new club house; and, did I mention, we live on a lake? :D

I'm glad that a Joisy town was voted best, too. I am still a Jersey boy despite the fact that I left 10 years ago. I hate the bad rap NJ has. If one exits the interstate, one realizes what a beautiful state NJ is.

I was in Mathews, NC and man was it gorgeous. My friend bought a 250K S-Family right next to the golf course. And the house was huge too. Loved it. That is probably going to be my retirement home (in another 35 years)

Thanks for the link Mickey. Some interesting finalists on that list. I live the Matthews golf community you mentioned. Small world! They are getting ready to build a 1.5 million sq. ft. mall a mile away. It is going to really change the pricing around here. Glad I bought when I did or would not be able to afford to live here.

LOL @ number 81... the nickname for that town is Gotham City... this is where all the refineries are based and it definitely does look like gotham at night... :dunno:

My state didn't even have ONE contender, only tied with North Dakota and Wyoming. :(

Beautiful place to live, though. ;)

Congrats. However, I think they forgot to rank "X5 WORLD!" ;)

wowow! We are not on the list, damm we could a least be #99 :(

i`m in Long Island New York, i guess the taxes here are so scary that we didn`t make the list.

oh well i guess one day i`ll just have to pack up an go

UCrewX5 07-11-2005 01:23 PM

Where I live didn't make the list either, but I'm wondering if that's because the island is a "township" and not a "city" :dunno:

No worries, though. Like Juan aluded to, sometimes it's best if certain places remain a secret ;)

Dam, if the girls weren't so good looking here I would move to where you are. The price of an entry level home in Pasadena starts at around $550k. And these are either 2bd 1 ba or 3 bd 2 ba depending on area. :(
