I'm hitting'em low and pulling them right too often (I hit from the dark side). Other than that I'm playing okay. I finally figured out a consistent chipping technique after a lesson with my friend/pro in Dallas which has made the game much more enjoyable for me. Before, I actually carried a RH sand wedge. I was so bad chipping LH I felt like this after almost every chip :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

I shot under par for the first time back in May after getting a new driver. First time out with it. I was playing the forward men's tees and eagled the eighth and ninth holes and got up and down on the last two to shoot one under. That's one life goal I check off :thumbup:

Shot my best ever, a 78, on our FLA Popcorn track in April, (preceded

Back here at Laurel Ridge CC on the mtn, I'm playing ok, but erratic:
got rid of a slice, have a decent cut, but can pull it left a mile at
any given time. HDCP Index is down to 13.4, (13.0 was best ever a yr ago),
but I can go out and shoot a 95 tomorrow and look like I walked on.

It's an insidious game...I blame all of you guys that didn't warn me, 5 years ago,
when I took it up at 55. I could be playing the piano by now, lol! The Left Side, huh?

Great playing MD. I took a look at the Laurel Ridge CC web site. It looks like a tough track. What tees do you play? I mix it up at our course (we have three sets).

My index is currently 6.8 but that's very much a home course handicap. My minus one round translates to 2.0 over based on the slope and rating.

I usually wear glasses but wear contacts for golf (bringing the thread back OT).

We mix it up from Whites, Slope 127ish, and Blues, Slope 138/71.6
The Blue Tees are actually also the Black/Tips except for a few
holes, but those Black tee few are nearly unplayable for amateurs
with more than single digit and/or huge length to get to a fairway:
holes 7, 9, 11, 15, 16, & 18.

My 13.4 current translates into 15 Home, and that's about where I am.
We look down at LRCC from our deck and can see several holes in summer
and most of the holes when the leaves drop. It's a great boys & girls club
with no foofoo bs, or biz deals, etc. Mostly retired/semi-retired, and most
of us just landed here.

MD: Don't do it. I would only consider buying frames on-line and then have my OD do the lenses. For one thing, they have to measure and mark the focal point of where your eye actually looks through. for them to center the lense right. No way to do that over the 'puter. Also, a better OD will have the best quality lenses available and I am a big believer in quality materials.

It's also like Quicksilver stated. Service and support is there with a local guy and that counts for alot.

BTW, my F-I-L is an OD. :D

It's good to play all the tees because it changes the course. IMO, you should try playing from the forward men's tees (Green?) regularly too. It changes the course and you might find yourself with a chance to drive a green or two which is fun (there's only one on our course but it's something I look forward too). A lot of guys won't even if they're 40 hcp'ers because of ego. My view is if you can't shoot par from the "regular" men's tees you have no excuse not to. My best from the regular tees at my club is +1, +3 from the back tees.

Our membership varies from a local billionaire to relative paupers like me ;) It's an old-style club with men's tee times on the weekend mornings and ladies on Tuesdays and Wednesdays :confused: So some "foofoo bs and biz deals" but I've got a good groups of friends that I enjoy playing with.

And OT: on the eyeglasses, I wear contacts and Oakleys when I play (the sun is bright here in the Southwest)
