NE Cingular users out there....

notice that since the switch to AT&T service has gone down the shi_ter?

AzNMpower32 07-07-2007 04:06 PM

It never was good to begin with. My parents use AT&T (formerly Cingular) and their phones and service always ended up being cut off (fewest dropped calls my a**) or they wouldn't be able to hear each other. Thankfully I use Verizon and I believe they are the best in terms of quality and service. Frankly with so many people admitting VZ is better, I don't know why more people use VZ.

I dont think the switch to AT&T has anything to do with it...its just a name change.

Could it have anything to do with adding 500,000 new subscribers in 3 days becuse of somthing called an iPhone???

NOVAX5 07-07-2007 06:33 PM

i have been an at&t - cingular - back to at&t customer since forever...i have never had problems with it. none, from customer service to call quality. i have 5 lines in my account and they are all good. there is only one small area which i always have intermitten signal is annandale rd. between rt 236 and rt 50. other than that, its good from here to florida, to texas, to california to seattle and back home.

I depends on where you live. The service is as good as how many cell towers they have where you live. Every carrier has areas with both good and bad coverage. If you live in an area with poor AT&T service, then use another carrier.

OK, well let me put it this way....I've used Verizon..hated it, went to Cingular two years ago..everything has been great. Never dropped a call or didn't have reception. Now in the last month or so, gone to SH_T in all the locations that use to work. This was before the all too cool for school Apple BT phone hit the market, so that isn't it. I have a feeling it is more do to AT&T's customers sucking off of the Cingular network

Who are AT&T customers? AT&T had no customers. They didn't own a cellular network.

You may be thinking of "AT&T Wireless" that was gobbled up by Cingular in 2004. If you are confused, look at this thread:

Perhaps you need a new cell phone? That is all I can think of.

Ahh, no you're missing the point Eric. My 3 phones are brand new...it is the network that sucks now...

I've experienced the same thing in Denver, CO. Service sucks now! I have had no problems the last 11 months and the last month I have probably experienced more dropped calls than the previous 11. Reception bars have gone from full to about 3-4 everwhere.

Eric5273 07-08-2007 11:31 AM

I don't know then. There were no physcial changes to the company. They simply changed their name to AT&T. I doubt a name change would result in bad service. I haven't noticed any difference here in NY.

I don't know then.

Oh My God, he said," I don't know"!

Same thing we've had. My business line and two family lines have gone to crap...now I'm looking for other SIM based providers.

There is only one other and that is T-Mobile.

but what does the name change have to do with it? It was simply a name change, the company is exactly the same.

Did I say I knew the answer? No, something changed though as service has become worse. I'm glad some one else posted that they also found the same issue.

I thought you were saying the change in service is due to AT&T...all I was saying is its simply a name change, nothing more.

The reason is likely due to infrastructure improvements getting ready for the iphone and system upgrades...I would imagine that they started preparing many months in advance and this is causing issues in some areas as they upgrade towers, etc.

I was on the phone for like 40 minutes and AT&T rep thought I was full of shit then tried to update the firmware on my phone. They even said I could try an updated smart card. I will see how the new firmware holds and then get another smart card if necessary. I noticed 1 bars at work today that pissed me off.

Wagner 07-14-2007 07:09 AM

Id love to hear how many of those calls they are getting now..

"ah it isn't us, it's the phone....the same phone that worked fine last month"
