It could have been worse...
But still pisses me off:
Hit and Run.. Happened while I was at my brothers pool today. Some people just have no class. No note, no nothing.... http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...S/IMG_0566.jpg http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...S/IMG_0565.jpg http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...S/IMG_0563.jpg http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...S/IMG_0562.jpg -- Anyone have any ideas what this might cost to fix. I am trying to decide if it's in the ball park of an insurance claim or should I just pay to fix it? B |
Damn bro..that sucks. They probably freaked when they saw they hit an X.
|
It really shouldn't raise your insurance premiums, and you shouldn't even need to pay your ded. file a police report before you file the insurance claim
|
Damn! Sorry to hear about it. Assessing the damage is a little difficult without removing the rear bumper. I am particularly concerned about where the rear bumper buckled about a quarter of the way in. If that pops back out and there are no brackets or clips broken, the rear bumper should just slide back on. Those dang brackets and crap can add up.
What's your deductible? $1000 or $500? |
Bastages! :gun:
At least it looks like the sheetmetal wasn't damaged. I'll bet that bumber is creased and will need to be replaced to make it right. The other trim pieces may be reuseable. I'm with PNG on estimated cost of repair. Can't know until you dig deeper. |
Ouch...that sux B. I hate rude people.
|
Oooh sorry, that sucks. You have the right attitude, though... of course you are pissed but it could have been a much worse hit and run.
Good luck with the repairs, whichever way you decide to go. |

He wasn't in the vehicle so it's covered under comprehensive coverage, yes he'll have to pay deductable (99% sure, but state vary), no the insurance company can't raise your rates or boot you because of it. A glancing angular blow like that could cause frame damage :( carry on. |
Sorry Man. Hate that!
|
Fargin iceholes who do that kind of shite, mate!

I grazed a 30-old Camero last winter as I was backing out a gracery store parking lot. Left corner of my bumper was scratched up but the Camero was fine. I took a bunch of pictures first, and I left my business card and a note. "Sorry I backed into your car call me." She called me and thanked for my honesty. Per her request I sent her $150. That was it. |
$1000...
:( |
ouch! really sorry fr you bro, I share the pain. I would have been really pissed too but as NCX said you have the right attitude
|
what a F*#&%#!!! :gun:
We all need fookin' security cameras for our cars. :tsk: |
Must be a bad week for rear bumpers. Dad got rear-ended on the highway by a guy who initially said he didn't have insurance. The next day mom comes back to a hit/run similar to yours, after groceries.
|
if your exhaust is pushed in then u might need to replace the left muffler.
|
I was a little less lucky - car didn't start after this nudge in traffic. Someone parked their Pathfinder in my tail!
I was sat in traffic when it happened. Heard a screech of tyres and then the phone was ringing with a policeman chatting to me in Arabic. My Arabic is pretty bad, but worse when this had just happened. Here is the outcome: I expected the car to start after this, but there had been some damage to a battery cable. I'm still waiting for that and the exhaust. |
That Sux,
I'm sorry man.. |

That is terrible! Do you know the full extent of the damage yet? I ask because I have told about a brand new X5 that was declared a total loss after being rear-ended. The visual damage wasn't that bad, aside from the usual and a buckled rear quarter panel, but the exhaust got driven in so hard that it cracked the engine block! The insurance company wrote it off. Incidentally, this X5 belonged to the parts manager of the largest BMW dealer in the US. :( |
They've told me that the worst of the damage is to the exhaust system, but they're just waiting on the parts for it. I'll certainly be making sure that the block is checked after that story.
I was very surprised (considering the noise of the impact) that there wasn't more to see when the cars were pulled apart. It was very annoying that it didn't start. It was about 40 that day and I was stuck in a tunnel - could've done with some A/C!! |
Sorry to hear about everyone's collisions. I know the feeling well. I hope your rides find their way back the like new condition. Seems like mine turned out OK.
|
Did you figure out what happened, B-Line? Were you struck from the rear or from the side? Did you eliminate the possibility of a someone across the street backing into your X5?
