1. What is the time frame PS3 start using the water-down processor? (Along with the price cut?)
2. Why would anyone pay $100 more 20 more GB? (When you could swap that with 160GB HDD with few $ more.)

My PS3 is freaking loud and hot with the power switch on and I have to reach back of the machine to turn it on/off. My Harmony Univ. Remote doesn't do bluetooth. That's the reason why I'll buy a dedicated BR player WHEN THE PRICE GOES DOWN. For now I am stuck with 64" Mitsu 1080i tv which didn't cost me arms and legs.
My tv runs sucky TimeWaner Dual Tuner DVRs fine for now.

Price for BR players is down, you can pick them up for under $500.00. Got my Samsung for less then $425.00. I run all my items through HDMI to a 50" 1080 TV. I was not overly impressed with the BR capabilities of the PS3, I'm hoping the dedicated BR system is better.

yessss Blue-ray on the PS3 is a treasure! .. like always always nice to hear 'after the fact that sony will up the gig to 80gig...

I have a 60gig and with downloaded trailers, pictures etc.. i'm now holding only 29gig.. so in another months or so it's memory management time!

Jon or Ryan or Seth, or anyone:
Are you running 1.31 or 1.32 firmware.... and are you experiencing any lockups during Blueray movies?

Jon:
The PS3 I checked out was pretty quiet and not really hot. Is yours inside a cabinet with restricted airflow? That could cause the fan to run 100% all the time.

I believe I'm FW 1.32, I'll check when I get home but YES, BR did lock up on the PS3.

I have the latest firmware. No lockups at all.
I use it for family pics slide show, mp3, movies, games, internet surfing(need showkwave flash :tsk:). I like as its the media center PC. Wish I can increase disk space to 1 TB. Anyone done that?

Agree on the noise, its quiet. Jon may have in closed cabinet.

Picked up a PS3 last week.... wow! the BR player is great (w/ BT remote $25). Like others mentioned, I was in the market for a BR player... ended up with the PS3. Got the keyboard as well. Then of course I had to get some driving games and I picked up an M3 SMG II Logitech steering wheel. The force feedback feature is awesome! It even has paddle shifters!

I hate, yes hate, my PS3 as a BR player...it blows IMO. That is why I have the PS3 & a Sony BR player.

trueX5er 11-04-2007 07:21 PM

What driving games did you get?

zerochief 11-04-2007 07:35 PM

I rent BR discs from netflix ever so often, so it won't get much use. If the BR PS3 BR player starts pissing me off, then I'll probably pick up a a stand alone player.

Re: driving games...I have Carbon - Need For Speed (Force feedback opt) and Motorstorm (without the FF option). Do you know of any others that support force feedback?
