Coffee for kids?

Does anyone else find it odd that parents buy their children coffee? More and more often I see mothers asking their children what kind of coffee they want while doing one of my two daily Dunkin Donuts runs  I don't get it, you give your 5 year old fookin coffee?!?!?! My parents never allowed us to have coffee as kids.

Ah, yes. caffeine is not something a child requires.

I don't drink coffee myself, so perhaps I shouldn't comment...

My parents drink coffee, and never gave it to us as kids. I let my son drink caffeinated pop, but not my daughter. Why? Because the caffeine "jiffs" her out, and makes her have to pee all the time!

They just put a starbucks in the commons of my old highschool damn that is amazing...I quit drinking coffee when I no longer had to study for finals (although when I go back for my MBA next year I am sure the quad shot of espresso will come back into play)

But clearly that did not work out as planned. :nanana:

My ex-girlfriend's son (he was 4 years old) used to always want coffee ice cream whenever we would go to Dairy Queen. I guess he had some of her's one time and liked it. I thought it was rather strange. As for me, I hate coffee. Can't stand the smell or the taste.

I have been drinking coffee since I was about 5 years old. Back then it was pretty normal in the UK for kids to drink tea and coffee. Less so these days. At peak I was drinking 5-6 espressos a day, I now limit myself to one; and boy do I feel better for it.

If you want to stop kids drinking caffeine then you need to ban Coke and Pepsi too!

While growing up in Jamaica my grandfather had a small farm on which he had coffee, so I drank coffee as a child. Not regularly, I might add, but I think I turned out OK!....I think! Be quiet, Laura! ;)
