Hopefully more people will figure out that in reality, a Hummer is more eco-friendly than a Prius.
The Prius is more politically correct. That's all that matters to Americans. Same kind of people who will buy the Lexus LS600h.........."I drive a hybrid, therefore I'm PC"
I don't know about being politically correct or anything, but my dad purchased a Prius a few months ago simply to save himself money. He drives over 25k miles per year, and doing some simple math showed it would save him lots of money on gasoline costs. So far he has gotten between 45 and 50 mpg. He used to have to fill up his car (he drove a Jag S-class before) about 3 times every 2 weeks at a cost of around $40 each time. Now he fills up about once a week at a cost of around $20. I don't think polution had anything to do with his decision. Being a liberal, he always preaches that cars have very little to do with the total CO2 emmisions anyway and always says most of the polution comes from airplanes and large trucks, and not passenger cars.

Well the batteries in Hybrids are insanely toxic.

Yeah..lead is fun. Lets put it back in the paint.
When will Americans just figure out the truth about batteries. I mean, most people know that car batteries can't just be regularly disposed of. What makes a hybrid battery so different? Is it made from recycled grass and hemp? It's worse than your average car battery due to the manufacturing process and chemicals (like the aforementioned lead).

I've said it before, enough of these worthless stop gaps.....HYDROGEN.
