After talking to some of the S. MD and VA guys over the weekend and hearing about the RIDICULOUS fees being appended to traffic tickets in Virginia since JUL 1, I looked up some articles. And sure enough it proves my earlier points. The state doesn't want safer drivers, it simply wants more revenue.

This article talks about fines, up to 3G's, for tickets issued to drivers in the state of Va. However, it also notes this:

$65M, that is the real reason for this, not safer roads as the legislation tries to sell :tsk: Hope you Va residents take note and deal with this as there is a rumble to repeal this....

I found it interesting to learn that the same fees exist in NJ !

I guess when you dont break the law, you dont know about these things..

That's always the reason - $$$$$.

If they were really interested in traffic safety, they'd be pulling over the slowest drivers, and the left-lane cruisers. They're the ones that cause most of the accidents.
