radar detector

Not sure if it should be here or bluetooth but....
I was at the stlrship and came across an interesting brochure, it's for a K40 Calibre radar detector, it uses bluetooth to communicate with the front/rear sensors, blue LED's in the dash and it talks! Tells you which band and which direction. It comes with a remote to control the features and turn it on/off. Sounded pretty cool, just wondering if anybody heard anything about it.

We're using the Passport SR-1 in our X5 which also happens to have the sensors in the bumper. As far as the bluetooth feature goes, Id say its a good idea, considering how much youd otherwise spend for installation for the wiring. I can confidentally say, that having the sensors in the bumper helps ALOT. The reception has been great with our SR-1.

That's the interesting part. I had the Passport SRX in my E55 and agree about having the sensors in the bumper as well as the idea of no wiring. I was just wondering if anybody read anything about it.

I guess I may have to be the "official X5 tester" :D

The only benefit to the system would be trying to keep installed costs lower, as far as I can tell.

unless it's a V1 or a Passport, I'ld pass. I've got my V1 wired into the rearview on my Z and I'm being lazy about hardwiring my X (mostly because it's a lease and I don't want to spend the time)
