There's a crapload of Priuses (or is it Priui?) here in L.A. There's at least 10-15 of them out of the 100 cars parked in our company parking lot every day, and they dominate the car pool lanes during rush hour along with the occasional Civic Hybrid.

One of the most embarrassing thing about being an American and traveling abroad is answering the question. "Why do you Americans all drive trucks?"

Like I have said before, if I had a 120d, I'd go around taunting all the Prius drivers, saying "I'm more environmentally friendly AND get better gas mileage!" :nanana: .

A thought came up to me though: BMW usually sells about 11,000 3-series a month. That's 2750 a week, or 392/day, and 16 every hour!!

It's like I pointed out in my earlier comment - that car pool lane sticker affixed to the rear bumper of a hybrid is like gold. And there's the hip factor attached it as well - when you have celebs like Cameron Diaz, Tim Robbins, and Edward Norton driving them, the suddenly it becomes chic.

Don't forget Al Gore (son of the former VP) who drives a Prius and was caught going 100 MPH in it.

I'm still not convinced the Prius is capable of 100mph given normal conditions. :thumbdown
As far as I know, the Prius takes 13.5 secs to do naught-to-sixty, tops out at 99mph, and gets 37 miles to the gallon (45 imperial mpg).
