What is up with the weather?

Geez, it's surprising what the weather can do to a major city like NYC.....

He said 1.7 inches of rain fell in Central Park between 6 and 7 a.m., and recent hot, humid weather powered clusters of thunderstorms over Pennsylvania and lower New York State that moved through the metropolitan area.

Paul Fleuranges, a spokesman for New York City Transit, said: “We’re coming back slowly. We have to dry out we have to clean up and then we have to make sure the circuits and the signals are working before we resume service.”

Wow, that really must suck. I wonder how my friend who took a trip to NYC this week is enjoying the city :rofl:. This brings back memories of that blackout a few years ago.........

They closed one tube of the Holland Tunnel this morning because it flooded out. The storm came through by me at about 4:30. It was intense. I love thunder storms, as long as I'm not stuck in them. I lit some candles and exercised in the dark.

It sounded like a war zone around 6AM this morning in Brooklyn.
Global warming.....

It has been in the upper 90s all this week, with high humidity. It is pouring now.

EDIT: Tornado Warning and Flash Flood Warning for Cook County has been issued. :eek:

We may get to our record high here this afternoon...
(at least record from what we have observed in the past
6 years, here at 5,000 ft and, in the shade viewing the temp.)

It's SeventyFookinSeven right now, humid as a jungle and
it may get to 78. We have seen 77 a few times over the past
6 years, with most of those high readings coming last summer.

I realize 77/78 is no big deal; the CEO is chasing it across
the valley at Waynesville CC this afternoon, where it's probably
87 with a heat index of 95ish. We are always much cooler here
at this altitude.

My point is, it's freakin hot, to get it this warm at this height.
Ma Nature is pissed off, imo.

FYI, Lake Superior is drying up and a buoy clocked it at nearly 75 degrees on the surface at one location :wow:

I read that last week in the paper...I used to swim there, once a year
on our annual vacay north to the UP from the Motor.

Lake Superior, from that article, has/had the surface area of South
Carolina and more fresh water than all the other Great Lakes combined...

Even as a kid, and I loved to swim, the shallow water was literally
breath taking back in the '50s.

My late sister's hub still has their cottage w/boat dock near Caseville,MI
on Lake Huron; that great lake has been disappearing for years: it's a
half mile walk from their formally "floating dock" to the water's edge.

i woke up with torrential downpours. i drove to work and almost get in a wreck with the WRX that hydroplaned into the median in front of me.

I get the computer working and its 100º and humid as fooking Florida outside!
Now its windy?

Yeesh is right. I just hope the best for the survivors of todays Bklyn tornado. :tsk:
