Anyone watching the PGA? Tiger got on a roll last week at the Firestone and he's doing it again in the PGA. He's hitting fairways, he's giving himself a birdie opportunity on nearly every hole, and he's nearly canning every putt within 12 feet.

300 yard tee shots with a 2 iron. Driver - wedge to the green on 16, a 507 yard par 5 - while playing his "safe" game. This major is already in the bag.

Hands down - he's my favorite athlete to watch as a spectator, followed by Koufax and Magic.

He certainly put on a clinic today. How many edges did he burn on the back nine?

I think Ames might want to re-think the birdie on #18. It may be worth more than a shot to not play with Tiger on Sunday in a major. OTOH, playing with Tiger may have affected Woody more (even though the Woods-Woody pairing would have been cool :cool:). Thoughts?

And those two missed putt's were soooooo close. Incredible to watch.:thumbup:

Els told the press its over. Ames choked against Tiger before. The field will have to go low and hope that Tiger comes back a little.

He's like Van Gough or something now. Just making up shots and throwin' 'em out there.

I don't agree with Els that it's over. Tiger could come out with a loose driver and give Ames a chance. Not that I don't think Tiger's got the game to get it done but anything can happen. I'll be watching :popcorn:

Els might contradict himeself. He's lighting it up, now at -3.

Tiger pulled it off again. Woody is fun to watch. Els had the best round out of al four of them. 8 months till Masters week.

I get nervous just watching Woody. I didn't know his first name was Albert until after the round today. It would have been funny if he was paired with Els. Then they would be

Being golf obsessed and having lil' to do on a Sunday eve,
I watched the Golf Channel Post PGA Ad Nauseum Wrap Up Show:
Woody is too clever by half and needed to stop talking about "him",
(Tiger), comparing himself to "him" and quit the whining. Woody's
a good ball hitter and glad he came in 2nd, but he ain't T.Woods.

The Woodman is on a role now. He's on the President's cup too.

Woody looks a little hyper active. He came close to say the wrong thing a couple of times about him and Tiger. the press was egging a little. There is only one Tiger Woods.

As the others have remarked too, there is nobody that's as pure a ball striker as T. and nobody as creative as T. and nobody who is as tough mentally as T. and nobody who makes the clutch shots as much as T. That's what sets him apart.

There are guys who have as much talent (example: Mickelson). Guys who are in as good shape (example: Weir). Guys who have good playing stretches (example: Woody). Guys who are great putters and have great touch around the greens (example: Ernie).

When T. missed that five or six footer and three-putted the announcers were incredulous and thought he might crack. But it was apparent that he either mistruck it slightly or the wear on the greens shot it left a little and it almost dropped anyway. And he birdied the next hole.

I still contend that it was unlucky for Ames to be paired with Woods though it would be hard to miss his birdie putt on purpose on #18 on Saturday. I think the distractions of the Tiger gallery are really tough on a player especially if you have a couple of bad holes early.

Congratulations to Tiger. He deserved to win.

Its really the mental strain that breaks down. There are plenty of great shot makers, but few who can hang in when the pressure is truly on.Tiger is born and bred for it...

No one seems to bring up the fact that although TW won by only 2 strokes, I truly believe he would have won by at least 5, if he didn't play 'catch-me-if-you-can'. He was controlling the ball so well, he could have easily been -10 and the rest of the field would have folded.

He's been hitting his driver very well the last few weeks and if he wanted to go 'pin-hunting' yesterday, he would made quite a few more birdies. He very very intent on using 2 iron to hit the fairway and hitting the middle of each green. He had a big enough lead where it would have taken something in the low-sixties to beat him.

The only way to beat Tiger is to NOT play in the same group since everyone seems to shoot over par every time.
