Any good books to recommend?
 
I'll be laid out after surgery for a couple of weeks pretty soon and I'd like to occupy my time with a couple of good books. The last novel I read was The Da Vinci Code and I enjoyed that. Other than that I've been reading mostly boring business books so I'm looking for another page-turner. Not sure what type exactly, but no love/war/history/murder stories. I like Michael Crichton and that sort of stuff I suppose...

Any recommendations? TIA! :thumbup:

Pick up anything by Greg Isles - Turning Angel was awesome, also Blood something...damn it, I can't remember the title. Nelson DeMille is a great author too, there was a book he wrote about flight 800, again I can't think of the title,:rofl: it was great. - Did you read Angels and Demons by Dan Brown?


I can't tell you how many books I've read this summer. Remembering the titles is where I have a problem. Let me think and I'll come back to you. I'm not sure if I'm getting old or I just have burnt brain cells.

+1 for Nelson DeMille. His novel Plum Island is very good. Very entertaining.

The Alchemist is a favorite recommenation of mine... fiction, but has a good lesson taught.

Angela's Ashes is a good page turner.

I also just read Charlamaigne's bio... incredible story of the dark ages.

Titan is also another great non-fiction, it's Rockefeller's bio, absolutely incredible life he lead and there are many many many parallels to how he amassed his fortune, the anti-trust laws that broke up standard oil, and how he weasled out of it, to how Gates did the same thing.

If you love physics or science, I urge to read this (easy read for non-techies too). Richard P. Feynman a great scientist and I have admired his writings and sense of humor since grade 10.

....Read Crichton's non-fiction "Travels"??.....I'm living vicariously through him...it's a phenomenal read--little snippets of things he's experienced in his own life...example: Chapter One...."Cadaver"....a must read.

pure pulp but entertaining page-turners if you like action/thrillers - any of the jack reacher novels by lee child.
