Canon updates EOS 40D firmware

Posted by Stephen Shankland
Canon has released an update to the firmware for its new EOS 40D SLRs designed to fix file format compatibility problems with some Adobe software.

Version 1.0.3 of the firmware worked with Adobe's raw-image editing software such as Photoshop and Lightroom, but the version 1.0.4 that shipped with some newer cameras broke compatibility, according to photographer and consultant Rob Galbraith and forums at Adobe, DPReview and elsewhere. Version 1.0.5 of the firmware can be downloaded from Canon's Web site.

The new firmware also fixes some Spanish and Korean language issues, corrects a problem that could prevent printing, and sets the camera so review of photos resumes at the same point in playback when the camera wakes up from powering itself down, Canon said.

already downloaded, but not yet loaded. I"m not having any problems so I might just wait.... used the camera all day today without any issues, took over a couple hundred pics

Not collecting dust! I have it in a box, all sealed up. Have not used the A1 for probably 7-8 years. One of these days, it will be a conversation piece, hope I can find some film then :)

Thanks AzX5, I have been waiting because I have to convert all my RAW files into DNG before processing on my CS2. It's been a pain!

Canon EOS 40D vs Nikon D80

Hey guys/gals - I remembered reading this and I thought I do a "search." Wagner I used the seach window.:nanana:

I am looking at upgrading my DSLR camera and since, there are a lot of photographers in the board. My birthday is coming up and I usually get something for myself.

Question: What are your thoughts between the Canon 40D vs Nikon D80?

I do take lots of sports/activity and water feature (waterfalls, rivers, surfing, and kite surfing). Thanks in advance and appreciate all y'alls thoughts and suggestions.

It's all about your glass. If you currently shoot Nikon, stay with Nikon. If you're a Canon guy, and have already invested in Canon glass, stay with Canon.

They Both have their strength and weaknesses... Canon does tend to be a little cheaper though. But they both get the job done.

It all depends on what lenses you have already. If you don't have any, then it's a toss up, buy what you like.

I like Canon's glass, so I buy Canon.

check out the reviews on www.dpreview.com, if you have questions let me know.

Gresch, I don't think it's considered plagirism if you put what I wrote in quotes and cite a foot note. :)
