He's a very religious guy, not so much different from those Evangelist Christians that we have here. They think that being gay is a choice, not the way you are born. So because nobody in Iran comes out of the closet (probably for fear of persecution), he assumes they don't have any gays. In 1950, one could have made the same idiotic assumption in the United States.

He doesn't assume anything.

"No gays" is the party line in Iran - enforced at the point of a gun.

At least in the 50's gays weren't rounded up and executed in the U.S.

I don't find that comical at all, The fact people turn a blind eye to something you do not choose is repulsive, It shows a total lack of compassion or complete education on the specified subject, just like the radical religious people, their so hell-bent on hating people they fail to realize their judging people which in itself is against their religion, that is all there is to it

I always chuckle at people who go out of their way to persecute people, typically they are that specified thing (Gay being an example) and just to pathetic to admit it to themselves, I feel sorry for people like that

I think the US has changed quite a bit, but they have a long way to go, the whole second class citizen feel does not work for me, but it will all come in time

one of the last truly honest and great leaders of the world. his honesty was refreshing.
