Mountain sliding into homes downhill
A Desert View Drive homeowner says he is "looking at the mountain going into my pool and the neighbor's house." Ross Clark, whose home is one of at least four directly downhill from the shifting hillside on Soledad Mountain Road, said a major slide occurred shortly before 9 a.m. "and it's still coming down."

"I head the fence starting to crack. I heard a tree coming down. We grabbed the dogs and ran," he said, adding that he and his wife returned a short time later. "The road is blocked by about 25 feet of dirt," he said, "It's still shifting."

Channel 8 is reporting its helicopter was ordered to pull back because its vibrations might make matters worse.
