You got Porsche Carrera?..need suggestions...quick

Looking for a weekend car. Came across a 2001 Carrera with GPS, 6 CD changer, heated everything etc etc (invoice was 104K). Blue with Grey interior. Here is the kicker...the Porsche belongs to a lawyer and has 8000 miles approx on it. What do you all say..she wants 45,900. I say 40K and perhaps this is high too.

I drove it and it looks and drives like brand new. Just had one oil service done. No extended warranty and never driven in snow and always hand washed. Any gotchas?

dealer retail if the car is mint is probably around $45k. She's asking a lot.

personal sale is probably high $30k's low $40k's.

incredible hit on a $100k 6 year old car... ouch.

Thats very few miles and purists usu want a few more miles per year. May have some seals, bushing issues. Get her down a little more... Had a 2002, 911C2. Great car!

Have it checked before you buy. Sounds like garage queen.

Is it a Cabrio, S or 4S?
That invoice seems high.
Depending on what it is - mid to high 30's seems right

Would also highly recommend a PPI - pre- purchase inspection. Remember its a 7 year old car.

I have an 06 Boxster and love it. You could pick up an 07 boxster now for 10-12K off msrp and have a brand new car thats loads of fun - if you dont need the backseats,

there is no such thing as an 01 S or 4S.

Mickey,

you're looking at high 30's. Buyer beware though, larger pecentage of the 01's had RMS issues which means new motors. I suggest 02 or later.

Price seems high, you could pull that from a dealer. Get it in the mid 30's.

Hey Mickey,

Good luck with your impending purchase. 996's have really dropped a ton in value. You can obviously pick up a very nice example. But don't feel that if you let a car go, there won't be another one right behind it.
Part of the fun of owning a Pcar is the search for the perfect one. So don't be in too much of a rush.
Are you sure for example that you want a 996? Do you maybe want a 993 instead? Do you want a cab or a targa, a later model S or all wheel drive? It sounds to me like you are working a little backwards. You can find plenty of vehicles in a reasonable price range so take the time to find the right car.
Low mileage is not neccessarily a bad thing as fluids have been changed regularly.
Also, post a link to the car. Let us take a look.

Have you also visited www.rennlist.com? It's a great forum for porsche owners like X5 world.

Good luck and keep us posted.
