I'm pretty sure discrimination is not allowed in the workplace period. I'm not a "PC" guy but I'm smart enough to realize that comment might have repercussions.

It is a comment outside of work. So everything posted on this board could be applied by an employer........

He wasn't discriminating at work. I would understand if he was firing people or something..but I haven't seen mention of that. Just expressed an opinion.

WHat part of it don't you get??? the guy made this comment based on the fact that he's a scentist, that what gave gim the credibility to speak and be listened to. On top of it he's a nobel prize winner.
I mean if you apply the same logic to Michael Vick or wateva his name was shouldn't be suspended by the NFL for dog killing and dog fighting.

Wow, completely different. Vick was suspended because he broke a player conduct policy. Did this person have a conduct policy which stated he could not speak opinion? Oh, also Vick committed multiple felonies (and lied about them, lets not over look that). That comparison is crap...sorry. If the guy did have a doc that stated all his opinion was deemed as representation of his research lab, then fine..suspend him, however I don't believe that was the case.

What we have here is a person who is on ” The board of trustees at New York's Cold Spring Harbor Lab". A Nobel laureate biologist. An American who won the 1962 Nobel prize for his role in discovering the double-helix structure of DNA.

Someone who’s going around giving speeches expecting others to listen to his knowledgeable opinions. So the things he say's will be given more weight and will be taken seriously. Coming from that perspective that could make those he represents very uncomfortable. ;)

Well wether you believe it or not is irrelevant at this point, He made ignorant racist comments as a scientist, a noble prize winner which make give him respect and credibilty.
He is only suffering the consequences of his actions. Someone of his stature and edution should know better.
I really don't see how you fail to see the reason why he was suspended.

Obviously you posted that without reading my prior comment. And actually "wether you believe it or not is irrelevant at this point" is completely relevant as it was my question.
