I've been wanting to start managing a portion of my investments on my own, kind of for fun / a challenge, and was wondering about your experience with different online trading companies such as TDAmeritrad, E*trade, etc. Thanks in advance

Imo, they are all fairly similar; some have different pitches and featuresand one should probably pick a couple and read the fine print andadvantages.http://online-stock-trading-review.toptenreviews.com/is just one opinion/rating site, fwiw.It usually takes some real dough and/or serious trading activity, to see "Level II" activity.If you are just fiddling, any of them are fine, imo. Stop loss, sell points and avoiding day trading/swing trades are the keyto making dough, imo.GL,mD
PS: "trading" does not necessarily relate to "investing" and trading does not often make one money, imo...

I've used Schwab forever (way before this "Internet trading" thing).

Not the least expensive and probably not the best for an active trader but I've been happy with them.

TD Ameritrade has Strategty Desk excellent for back testing ideas. You will also need another rt quote chart service like E Signal or Telechart.

I have an account with Scottrade and it works fine for me.

I use Fidelity and have had no issues for years.
