Hey US peeps..

if you haven't read the Bill of Rights in a while, you might want to now...because your politicians are seeing what rights they can remove...

YOUR government asking you to redefine YOUR privacy!

Remember a few quotes from some very smart people:

Ben Franklin

We Americans have no commission from God to police the world.

Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both.

Distrust and caution are the parents of security.

Thomas Jefferson

For a people who are free, and who mean to remain so, a well-organized and armed militia is their best security.

James Madison

Democracy is the most vile form of government... democracies have ever
been spectacles of turbulence and contention: have ever been found
incompatible with personal security or the rights of property:
and have in general been as short in their lives as they have been violent
in their deaths.

Abraham Lincoln

Allow the president to invade a neighboring nation, whenever he shall deem it necessary to repel an invasion, and you allow him to do so whenever he may choose to say he deems it necessary for such a purpose—and you allow him to make war at pleasure.

America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter, and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.

Albert Einstein

Peace cannot be kept by force. It can only be achieved by understanding.

Col. James A. Donova (USMC)

The dangerous patriot...drifts into chauvinism and exhibits blind enthusiasm for military actions.

Davy Crockett

Remember that a government big enough to give you everything you want is also big enough to take away everything you have.

Dwight Eisenhower

We must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex.

There is no glory in battle worth the blood it costs.

Hemingway

The 1st panacea of a mismanaged nation is inflation of the currency; the 2nd is war. Both bring a temporary prosperity; a permanent ruin.

Frederick Douglass

The life of the nation is secure only while the nation is honest, truthful, and virtuous.

General Douglas MacArthur

Our government has kept us in a perpetual state of fear - kept us in a continuous stampede of patriotic fervor - with the cry of grave national emergency.

Washington Post: AT&T gave feds access to all Web, phone traffic, ex-tech says

Civil Liberties groups turn up heat over telecom immunity

The American Civil Liberties Union is pressing lawmakers to reject giving the telecom industry liability protection for participating in President Bush’s secret eavesdropping program without a court warrant.
The civil liberties group is hitting the Hill with its “just say no” campaign.

The telecom industry is responding with its own lobbying effort.
Both sides face off tomorrow when the Senate Judiciary Committee debates a bill that the Senate Intelligence Committee passed last month. That bill grants the administration more surveillance powers and gives telecom giants like AT&T immunity from lawsuits for participating in the secret surveillance program after the Sept. 11, 2001.

If you care at all about preserving your civil liberties, then call or write to your congressman and senators and tell them to vote against this immunity bill.

The two issues are not one in the same, corporate decisions are not the same as political decisions made from a political soap box.
