On the Ed Norris show they were having call-ins by pilots about airport security. They all said the same thing, total unnecessary BS. They were far more concerned with small aircraft and air space regulations then whether a passenger might hijack or smuggle something on the plane. So IMO a combination of REAL security measures in an airport and REAL policy would solve the problem. For starters, I'd remove any and all carry on luggage..period. I might make exceptions for trips over 2.5 hours for items such as laptops or MP3 type devices. IMO security measures should not be guided by how 'convenient' they are and there is NO reason for you to be at an airport 3 hours prior to a flight. |

Most people don't know this, but FBI and the like are on most flights in the US. You would be surprised.

got hand searched at the gate, too :nanana: The ID thing is wierd, I've always volunteered it, and they have always pushed it away, and so I stopped. All of a sudden, (after a year of not bothering) i have an obnoxious power tripping uneducated woman causing a scene in the airport over using a "School ID". Sorry, we don't have those in small towns, people know who we are and its not a national mandate that every student gets an ID. I was specifically ranting about her. My biggest gripe, by far: They (Portland, ME) frisked my friends 85 year old grandmother. WTF. |

But agree that they are concentrating their energies in wrong areas. They need to expand the Flyclear project and not bother people with Flyclear pass. If passenger A is Flyclear pass holder and his background is all confirmed(based on certain criteria) than he should be fine. They can knock themselves with other passengers with better scanning than it is right now. |

agreed. It's more of a deterrent rather than a fool proof protection.

That definitely will not fly. I on a plane at least 3 times a week. Do must of my preparation for meetings on these flights. I'm also in and out of airports fairly quickly and will absolutely not wait for luggage as with most other frequent business travelers. Southwest "A list" members and also United Executive status passengers go straight to the front of the line at most airports here in the west now.
