Held-Up
There are always two sides to every coin. The holidays for the most part bring out the best in people. Donations are up this time of year, people volunteer more now than any other time. As long as you don't get too caught up in the mall traffic and the Best Buy parking lot, thing can be pretty nice. Then there are those who feel desperate this time of year and go over the edge. We had one of those instances tonight. Five minutes before closing at one of our locations, a guy came in with a gun and robbed a store and scared a highschool girl half to death. She is fine and he "the robber" only got a couple hundred bucks but it makes me wonder if this is all worth it. The rush and gifts and all. Just too much damn stress. It has been three years since we were last robbed and no one got hurt so I guess there is always a silver lining but can't we all just get a grip and get along.....

Couldn't agree more. I'm glad everyone is alright, that's the most important thing. Unfortunately the possibility of getting robbed is a cost of doing business and always has been.
On a similar note, tonight I was watching "Gangland" on History Channel. These guys in a gang called the "Latin Kings" go around killing people they don't even know just for the fun of it. They also kill each other for one reason or another. To advance in the ranks mostly. What beats me is that it's all in their own heads, something they just made up. They go out of their way to "create" their own little world, calling themselves a "nation" and make up all these rules and say they would protect or die for each other but instead they go around killing each other. I just don't get it  |
