A silly response from BMW.
 

I was chatting with the guy that bought my 545i and he said an "active steering" issue came up. The system was making noise and through two warnings. He took it to BMW and was told "that is normal". Ah, it is normal to through an error code :confused:

I've had no issues with Active Steering on the 3, although I do realize it is a relatively "fragile" part of the vehicle, susceptible to errors and such.

BMW has been dragging its feet with the software problems on the '07-'08 X3 6-speed automatic gearbox as well. Despite apparent serious hesistation, neck-breaking downshifts, and ridiculous gear hunting, some dealers don't know how to fix it because the problem sometimes comes right back after the latest software update. :dunno:
