It's about 3 bucks in San Diego. I buy my gas at MCRD (I'm retired from the USN) for about 25 cents less, though. But, it's still expensive. My other car is a 2002 ///M Roadster which is easy on the gas. But, these X5's are thirsty. It's worth it though (for now).

Whichever is on my way home or work! :D I

I don't care about the brand of gas, only about that little octane number.

China Man 08-15-2005 08:05 PM

$3.01 in Greenwich, CT today :tsk:
X5 was empty, OBC test read 1.7L left in the gas tank, and it cost me 70 somewhat dollars to fill up :dunno:

JCL 08-15-2005 10:01 PM

$1.22 CDN/litre today (91 octane) in BC

That is $3.84 USD per US gallon.

(It is also $4.61 CDN per US gallon, which is somewhat important as we don't get paid in US dollars)

Something to think about is that Canada is the #1 national source of US imports for both crude and petroleum, beating out Mexico, Saudi, Venezuela, etc (2005 May YTD, US DOE) but with all that oil up here, it doesn't keep our own prices down. Oh well, it is great for business here, or at least those businesses on the producing/refining/transporting end of it.

From CNN Money:

NEW YORK (CNN/Money) – Gasoline prices in the United States, which have recently hit record highs, are actually much lower than in many countries. Drivers in some European cities, like Amsterdam and Oslo, are paying nearly 3 times more than those in the U.S.

The main factor in price disparities between countries is government policy, according to AirInc, a company that tracks the cost of living in various places around the world. Many European nations tax gasoline heavily, with taxes making up as much as 75 percent of the cost of a gallon of gasoline, said a spokesperson for AirInc.

In a few Latin America and Middle-East nations, such as Venezuela and Saudi Arabia, oil is produced by a government-owned company and local gasoline prices are kept low as a benefit to the nation's citizens, he said. All prices updated March, 2005.
