Busted iPhone
:(
I'm not sure what happened, either: a) it broke when I dropped it (but it was in a leather case) b) Puppy got her teeth in it Either way, I discovered on Sat. my iphone has a big old crack in it. The top left of the device, through to the spot where you put your ear is messed up and their is a crack running from the top left to middle right. So here is the questions: 1) Use cracked iPhone (is there danger of the glass cutting me?) 2) Repair cracked iPhone (I called, it costs $250) 3) Use my BB 8800 till Apple puts out a new iPhone Thoughts? That blows...
I'd use it until I could replace it. |
no applecare?
that prolly wouldn't cover it anyways... can't you just go to the apple store and buy another? or... maybe repair is cheaper... |
I haven't seen any rumors about any new iPhone any time soon. I would repair.
Probably the main reason is that these devices are still so new and seem to attract so much attention that you wouldn't want people looking at your crack (no pun intended). Just like you wouldn't wear an attention getting watch that had a cracked face... Edited: What I had heard is the next version of the iPhone will be a 3G model. Jobs had said late 2008 (but that was about 3 months ago). |
I could buy another.. But how much longer till they release a new one?
|
It still functions properly? If so I'm with Wagner... or just buy a new one. Unload the damaged one on ebay for a cheap price, fully disclosed to get some cash back.
Check this auction... cracked screen iPod with multiple bids currently going for $212 and over 4 days left! http://cgi.ebay.com/Apple-iPhone-8GB...QQcmdZViewItem Look how many more, most with bidding activity: http://search.ebay.com/iphone-cracke...Zm37QQfromZR40 |
they say Q2 of 2008 for the 3G.

Hey B; No phone insurance?? Everybody usually has it.
In the meantime While Apple wouldn't confirm any of this, those industry wags talking with TheStreet.com also say the updated iPhone will be packing GPS on board in Q1 '08. Adding 3G and GPS? |
Are you happy with the iphone in the first place?

Thanks guys,
I think I'll keep using it till its', well, not us-able. Ajogu, The answer to your question is yes and no. Is the iPhone perfect? NO. Are there better phones out there? YES Are there better phones out there that are easily compatible with a MAC? NO. In other words, the Black Berry and Treo's are not great at syncing with iCal, iMail, iPhoto and Address Book. The iPhone does it seamlessly and that is the most important function a phone can have, seamless integration with my computer. If I were not a MAC user and if I did not use all of MAC's software for organization, etc. then I wouldn't see much benefit to the iphone. But since I do use all their systems, it really is beautiful how well they all work together. Plus, it is nice to have my photo portfolio (I'm a photographer) and my movies (I'm also a filmmaker) right on my phone and in very good quality. B |
