Many of the superdelegates who could well decide the Democratic presidential nominee have already been plied with campaign contributions by Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, a new study shows.
"While it would be unseemly for the candidates to hand out thousands of dollars to primary voters, or to the delegates pledged to represent the will of those voters, elected officials serving as superdelegates have received about $890,000 from Obama and Clinton in the form of campaign contributions over the last three years," the nonpartisan Center for Responsive Politics reported today.

About half the 800 superdelegates -- elected officials, party leaders, and others -- have committed to either Clinton or Obama, though they can change their minds until the convention.
Obama's political action committee has doled out more than $694,000 to superdelegates since 2005, the study found, and of the 81 who had announced their support for Obama, 34 had received donations totaling $228,000.
Clinton's political action committee has distributed about $195,000 to superdelegates, and only 13 of the 109 who had announced for her have received money, totaling about $95,000.

It's the best system money can buy...And from the looks of things Obama is leading the charge.

That is the problem with government today, too much power and the people only get part of the story. Earmarks of 300M+ for New York by Clinton, 90M by Obama, McCain claims not to have taken any (though I find this hard to believe).

Sadly it will always be "the best worst candidate". Those who play by the letter of the law ethically can not make it in our system. The media chooses who you are allowed to select from and then narrows that down based on public sentiment, business interests and favored opinion. IMO that is why the media is so screwed up by the Obama camp. They were die hard in favor of Clinton leading the DNC charge and when this was unfounded, they had to re-structure their spin.

On the side, the DNC said that Michigan and Florida primaries/delegates would not count because both states broke DNC rules. Fine. Problem here is Clintons name still appeared on the Michigan ballot, minus Obama. So of course Clinton 'won'..at least in theory..Michigan as well as Florida. Now that the race is tight, Clinton is leading the charge to have their delegates now count. Shocker. Everybody apparently cheats, that is sad.

Rant: Lets unload the electoral college already. This made sense in the 1800s it is now time to go solely with a popular vote IMO. Also, super delegate..remove that whole concept. I can't think of a single item more focused on deception and corruption then a super delegate. An individual that can determine and out come of a state with their votes based on EXCESSIVE lobbying. How did super delegates get established and why do we have it. Also in "Wagner-World" you would be tested before being certified to vote. You must understand the process and outcomes. This would stop bs pandering and then force an educated voter to not take the candidate only on face value.

Why do you find it hard to believe McCain has added ZERO earmarks? He is a staunch supporter of ELIMINATING pork barrel spending. One more reason to NOT vote for the DUMMYCRAP.

Everybody gets paid. If it isn't through earmarks, it is something else.

What fact? Don't be confused by your own senator and assume he has never done wrong. Senators don't get rich by being senators. It's fine to be bias towards your senator but to assume they have never taken anything but their salary...just silly.

McCain is a great person for taking on industry and pulling against pork in bills.

The fact regarding earmarks and your opinion that you don't believe them. McCain is one of my least favorite Republican candidates, so no bias towards the home team by me. I am only supporting McCain since he would still be 10x better than any liberal choice on the ballot, in my OPINION.
