Costco has the excellent Garmin Nuvi 650 for $300. That's a helluva price. It's the best deal going, IMO. Widescreen, easy interface, text-to-speech voice prompts, compact size, Garmin support for new maps (at $80 a pop!). Check it out.

I have a Garmin Nuvi 360 and have no complaints. You should look at the Nuvi 350 - only difference with the 360 is that you don't have bluetooth and its about $250 on Amazon.

Whichever one you choose make sure you get one that converts text to speech e.g. says 'turn right on main street' not 'turn right in 500 ft'

This is a great deal, if you don't need Bluetooth, its the way to go.

It's really a matter of "features", price point, etc. and your
personal needs, imo.

We copped a Garmin nuvi 650 just after xmas time,
for an amazing $279 from Amazon...that model is back
up to 299+ now. For us it was the wider screen, the
audible directions, etc. And, we had no need for Bluetooth,
etc. found on the next level models.

Interesting thing about Amazon I did not know until we
bought this item: they "float" the sale price, based on
inventory, demand, sales, etc. At least they did on this
item. It shot back up to 3 bills the next day...

NEway, really a personal pick, imo. I suspect all the brands
do a fine job and they all have the same soft spots of having
some really crummy, local misinformation, imo. They will
all get you to Billings, MT or to the George Washington Bridge;
getting you to gramma's house or apt. is another thing.
Good Luck on your hunt.
